View Full Version : Finally Tried It!

My husband has been trying his hardest to get me to try DE shaving. I was very unsure and told him that I would probably hack my legs off! :scared:
But, my razor was dull and he convinced me to try his Gillette Slim adjustable just once. He told me that I could leave it at 1 and he guaranteed me that I would not hack my leg off. He gave me a quick run down of how to put the blade in the razor, how to clean the razor and how important it was to NOT apply pressure before he went to work. Easy.
Well.....all would have probably gone perfect, but I forgot to re-check the razor to make sure it was tightened down completely.
I didn't use his puck to lather up. Figured I could learn to do that if I liked the experience later. So, after lathering up my leg with shaving cream I set the razor against my leg at just the right angle as directed and, with no pressure, made my first stroke. No bleeding ensued, so I figured that I did it right. However, on my second stroke, right around my ankle....sharp pain. Stopping immediately, I looked at the damage....no blood....wait, never mind, lots of blood. Dang it! That hurt. I did notice that the second stroke felt different, so I took a look at the razor and realized it wasn't closed correctly! So, I closed it down, stopped the blood bath right before loosing consciousness and continued my shave. I was very surprised at how well it went after that. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and the results were amazing, very smooth.
All in all...I liked it. When he came home I told him that I did indeed hack my leg, but not quite completely off! And I did confess that the hack job was my own fault, so I would try it again. Yep....he's got me hooked.

Good to hear. I too was surprised at the fact that I didn't butcher my face when I first tried it. It'll be good to have some female influence around here, as this forum is mostly filled with men.

Oh, yeah! Another convert into the wonderful world of DE! Of course, she waits until I have my RAD completely under control to try this out.:scared: I have a feeling this could cost me!:001_unsur Should I even show her the Lady Gillettes in the various colors? Yeah, I should!
Good job, Baby! Welcome, and let the fun begin.:biggrin1:
Bet you never thought you'd be talking about shaving online with about 28,000 people, did you? Yes, you have now arrived!:thumbup1:

That's great, I am trying to get my wife to try it at least once, just so she can see what this is all about. No luck yet, but she has been showing a little interest in the look of the Lady Gillettes, so we'll see where things go from there.

I've been offering to whip up lather for my wife as I think she would find it much more effective but haven't got her to take the leap yet...
Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome guys! Hubby showed me the Lady Gillette. Love them! Pink is my favorite color...of course that is the hardest one to find evidently. I'll keep my eyes open for one.
And yes, I never thought I would be talking about shaving online with about 28,000 people. But you should have known that introducing me to your newest obsession would turn into mine! And yes, it will cost you I'm sure.
Keep asking your wives to try your razor. Once she does, all the pestering will be forgiven....of course then she may be upset that you didn't convince her earlier.

Welcome! I shaved my wifes legs so she could feel the difference as compared to the old atra. I still had to hear gripeing about RAD until we found a box of razors at a antique store that had a Knack and a Lady gillette. I thought I would have bruises from the clench marks on my arm as she tried to contain her enthusiam. Needless to say she now loves using her blue lady gillette, so much so she hasn't used the Knack yet. She doesn't use a brush(yet) but likes the brushless Trader Joes Honey Mango cream and the mens Nuetrogena Sensitive Skin cream. Welcome Again!!

Thanks for the link, but there isn't a "join" button for me to join it. Well, at least when I'm logged in under my account any way. When my husband is logged in, there is a "join" button. Maybe I have to be a member for a certain amount of time before I can join groups? But thanks anyway!

Hi Deborah.
There mightn't be a join button for you as you will have two users under the same IP address. I'm not sure if this is def the problem but hopefully a moderator can sort it out for you! In the mean time if you have any questions feel free to post them just in the general forum as the guys on here are great or if I can help just let me know!
It's great to have you along and sorry about the delay in welcoming you along here... Seems a_bit_crafty is more on the ball than I am!
There's also a leg shaving wiki page here which might be of interest:

The Women shavers is a private social group but, the rules of 50 posts minimum and 45 days as a member probably apply.

Huh... I was not aware of this. It was an open group but became a closed group after much discussion. We still like to think of it as being open and welcoming though! I'd be curious to know if it does have these prerequisites. I'm almost positive it doesn't though as some members have joined pretty much within a couple of days of their first post on here.

What I mean by private is that I can't see the discussions unless I join the group. Not that is not a welcoming group. :001_smile
The rule is very recent, I'm not sure of when it started exactly. We got the same situation in the Australian social group.
