Hello everyone !
Just wanted to say hi and congratulate all of you on what seems to be a wonderful community, one that I hope to be a part of! I've just recently come across the wonders of proper shaving, and I ain't going back. :001_smile
While I'm at it, could you perhaps advise me on my startup kit ?
I found this: http://www.leesrazors.com/products/Ultimate-Beginner's-Double-Edge-Setup.html while browsing, and according to what I've been reading on this forum this seems to be a decent kit to start with. What do you all-knowing shaving experts think ?

Hello and welcome to the B&B. The startup kit you shown is a good one. All you need now is a good aftershave. I recommend a low scient balm like Proraso if you use cologne afterwards.

If only I was an all knowing shaving expert!
That starter kit looks very good indeed.
Welcome to our world - one more of us, one less of them!

Welcome to B&B. The start up kit is fine - but I could not get a choice of blades when I looked at it. I would add some Thayer's alcohol free witch hazel and a styptic pencil or powder to it.
Welcome to B&B! Enjoy the shaves. :thumbup1:

You were blind, but now you see.
It's a good starter kit. I would second the addition of witch hazel and a blade sampler pack.
Welcome to B&B.

Welcome! As others said - a blade sampler is a great addition to the initial kit as different blades can really impact the quality/comfort of your shave.
Keep in mind that the .15 cent blade is the gateway to the $150 brush though!

Welcome to Badger & Blade!
Skip the kit. You can do much better than that overpriced thing. Get yourself a Gillette Tech or Superspeed from the BST. This should not cost you more than $10. Head on over to West Coast Shaving (www.westcoastshaving.com) and pick up a tube of Speick and Proraso, as well as an Omega 10049 boar brush and a blade sampler. Drive to Walmart and get yourself some VDH soap and an after shave of your choice. That will cost a lot less than $140.

I think that it might be a tad bit expensive. You can get a Tweezerman brush for $15 off of Amazon along with a Merkur 1904 for $29. Proraso shave soap for sensitive skin for $9, various brush stands for between $4 and $7. Plus there is a sampler pack of blades for $17. So max payout is about $77. So I suggest that you look around first.

I'm new to this but it looks like a nice set to me.
Welcome these folks have been a huge help to me.
I'm sure you will enjoy it here.
What do I think? While it really is a very good setup all in one place, there are far cheaper options for someone who's just starting out. Try searching out a razor (I echo the vintage gillette recommendation), brush, and soap for yourself, get a blade sampler pack, skip the stand, and you'll save a lot of money and have a kit that will last for a very long while. That's just my 2 cents.

That starter setup looks very nice. Good quality products and should give great service. However, I've found that when you buy a complete setup of anything, you are going to find some parts of it you don't need or can't use or don't like. Wet-shaving is not a "one size fits all" addiction. I would favor shopping for yourself rather than a "total fix". Look at our reviews section to help you with your shopipng list and then go back to "leesrazors" and get something that will work for you.

Welcome to Badger & Blade.
I favor the ala carte method myself. I saw a Tweezerman brush in a Harris Teeter's grocery store. Wal-Mart does, I think, still sell the VDH mug soap. Many members here will help you find a vintage DE razor fast and with little expense. It does not cost much at all to get started.
