So, next week I want to stick in a new blade brand in my rotation. I've used the following: Merkur, Red Personnas, Shark Chrome and Feathers.
I have the following choices:
Crystal Platinum Chrome
Astra Superior Platinum
Dorco SS Platinum DE
NACET Platinum DE
I'm leaning towards the Crystals or Astras, but can't quite pick.

One vote for the Astra SP's.
Do you REALLY think there'll be a consensus?!

Not really, no. I just like getting people going a bit :biggrin1:

I'd vote Crystals.
Astra's were meh, Dorco were about as sharp as a wooden club and Nacet were bleh also for me. Crystals i say.

Put me down for another vote on the Astras. Of course, it's not exactly an informed decision on my part. The Astras are the only blade from your list that I've tried. But out of all the blades I've used, they are in the top 4(out of 20+ brands). Of course, you could feed the ADs and stock up on them all!:001_rolle

Well, I know I'll be viewed as a contrarian on this one, but I received a couple packs of those nacets awhile back and I've not yet had a chance to try them. I'd say nacet, purely for selfish reasons, just so you can give your impressions of them.
Unselfishly, I'd say go for the Crystals, next. Some folks really like them. You might, too. If you use the astras afterwards, that might be a really nice side-by-side comparison. (Astras then Crystals would work, too.)
Hope it helps,

You know, the Dorcos, although unfortunatley named for the North American market, aren't bad. I'd still probably go with the Astras next.

I just recently tried Astras to see if I like them more than my Lord Platinums. I need another few shaves to see if they're better for me, but they're definitely nice!

Hmm... if forced to choose then I would pick the Astra SP, followed by the Crystals.

My vote is for Crystals. In my short wet shaving career, these are my favorite blade so far. Very sharp + very smooth = perfection for me! :thumbup1:

I use nothing but Gillette Super Thins. I prefer the regulars over the platinums. I'm always surprised that these aren't more popular as they're very reasonably priced and give me great shaves. I cork my blade after each and every shave and I get nearly three weeks worth of shaves from a blade; shaving every day. I have a medium heavy beard and I always lather up and shave twice. First WTG, then XTG. I figure it's costing me about 10¢ a week to shave.

Well, you didn't mention which ones you LIKE, that would help. BUT, of the ones you have, my choice would be:
Astra SP
Crystals
Red Ip
Shark Chrome
the rest

I'd vote for the Astras, as well. They're not my preferred blade, but far from bad. YMMV, of course. You might love them.

Well, I thought this would be a bit more difficult, but most of you gents picked Astra! So, Astra it is! Thanks!

This has got to be some kind of weird anomaly!:001_smileI must admit that I contributed to this, though, as I voted for the Astras as well!
