Being in Mexico on a business trip, I have gotten food poisoning and spend yesterday and today in my room in the hotel. Having a lot of time on hand, I surfed the net and came across some information why brushes loose hairs (shedding) after some time of use. One of the older German brush companies, DaVinci, have some interesting information on their website. The main problem for hairs breaking loose after some time of use comes from neglecting a good cleaning after use! Rinsing out the brush very good under running warm water seems to help avoid this issue. As they say, if the soap/cream residues remain in the hair knot, this will eventually erode and after some time breaking off. I post a link to this info here:

http://www.davinci-defet.com/files/rasierpinsel_reinigung_und_pflege.pdf

I think it is a good practice to wash out the brush well under running water! In the past years I have restored a number of brushes where I could see that there was a lot of soap residue present. Often on can see this as a little white ring at the base of the knot. None of my brushes show this, and some are several years in use.

Oh boy Rudy, can't eat the food, nor drink the water! Worry not, it's safe back home in NJ. Feel better ...

Oh boy Rudy, can't eat the food, nor drink the water! Worry not, it's safe back home in NJ. Feel better ...

Guess Mexico must be worse than Nicaragua. I was just there for 10 days ending on this Monday with my wife and 5 boys. We ate/drank nearly everything and except for some very mild symptoms on the last day or so for two of my kids, we were fine.

Anyway, sorry to hear you are afflicted and hope you feel better soon.

Gentlemen, from March on, I will order Shavemac knots once per month. This makes it easier for Bernd and myself to keep track of the orders. Right now I order every knot as the order comes in, this sometimes leads to confusion and I get a wrong knot from time to time.
So, if you want a custom brush with a Shavemac knot, let me know. I will create an order sheet with the information we need:
Knot size
Loft
Hair quality
Shape of knot

At the last day of month I will send the order to Shavemac.

Thanks I am very excited to see the finished product. If it looks anything near the picture it is going to be sweet. This is my first brush purchase also by the way. I have only used a Men-U Synthetic so I wanted my first brush to be the BEST! 2 band finest badger is what I got based on several recommendations from BB'ers.

I've never used a synthetic brush. I do have several TGN Finest though. They are excellent.
And I have a RV handle in that material. It's great looking.

I expect you're going to be very pleased with the fine brush you've got coming. Congrats.

Personally, I like a brush with a 20-26 mm knot size and a short loft, with a fan or even a flattop shaped knot. As far as handles go, I like the antler handles, and from the classic styles, my preference is the Persian Jar and the Stubby/Chubby style.

Quick Update on the 2012 LE brush: about a third of the handles have been turned, and I could have done more, but my Oneway live center seized up after 7 years of a lot of use, so the new one is on the way to me and hopefully I can continue next week.

I'm talking to Rudy about a brush gents, I was going to get a polo, it's just bigger then I want right now. I bowl later probably 75% of the time. I have also moved on to soaps, I'm going to get a 2 band fan knot. What say you gents about size and loft? Any pics of handles would be great!!! Thanks ahead!!!

The Polo is a nice longer handle which I think is both great for bowl or face lather (I own one, an 8, and use it for face lather only). The two-band finest in the fan shape in a 22 or 24 mm size with a loft of about 46-50 is also a good choice for either way of lathering.

My RV Vintage Ivory - Introducing the "RV7"

Gents - behold and envy. I've been working with Rudy for a couple of months on this brush. I asked him for something in vintage (legal) ivory to mark a special birthday for myself this year. I suggested a modified M7 shape since it's my favorite handle. Rudy located a mammoth piece of vintage ivory (pun intended, but not literal) and suggested that since I was going "top down," I should go fully top down with a hand-tied Shavemac knot. Who's to argue with the wisdom of the Master?

Here's the finished masterpiece. I've had it two weeks now and it's already on the way to becoming my all time favorite brush. As you can see from the photos, it dwarfs its M7 GYLE and Lee7 cousins. The heft of the ivory is impressive, and once you've handled it, faux ivory and other resin brushes just don't feel the same. The specs are: knot 26mm, loft 56mm, handle 70mm. (Before anyone asks, no, I only had to sell one of my kids to the illegal organ trade to pay for it.)

I have received now all the Shavemac knots we need for the 2012 LE - actually, a good time before I expected them. When I ordered the knots from Bernd, he said he will get right to them. Now, they all have arrived. In the past I have rarely seen more than two knots with the same specs, now I saw a whole lot of them.
I just pulled 10 knots out of their card board sleeve and was quite amazed how uniform and even these knots are, they look fantastic!!! Wow, this is quality at its finest. I have seen on some website brushes that show quite a variety in their knots, same brush model, but totally different looking knots - these here all look like identical twins. Great Job, Bernd!!

I just finished my second shave with my RV with 3 band Shavemac D01 knot, and it is less scritchy than the first shave. It seems like it will continue to soften up a bit with a few more uses. One thing I have noticed is that it produces an amazing amount of lather. I have been using my SR 3722 for a few months now, and while I always thought that the SR produced a lot of lather (and it really does), the D01 knot produces almost twice as much! Where the SR 3722 is pillowy soft with nice backbone and great lather ability, the D01 is nice and scrubby with exceptional latherability and excellent flowthrough. I am glad I got the RV since the two brushes I now own have a completely different feel ( ahem..although I will be adding a new member already to the stable in a week when my Simpson Colonel X2L Butterscotch in Manchurian arrives....I just hope it is different than the two I already have).

Please, let us know how the D01 Three-band compares to the Manchurian hair. I have not had a chance to check one out, so I am interested what you are saying. Manchuria is a huge area in northeastern China, and my guess would be a lot of badger hair comes from this area without being marked Manchurian Badger.

Antler is one of my all time favorite materials for brush handles! One of the finest natural materials that does not need any attention, like horn or other naturals. Good quality Sambar stag is unfortunately harder to find lately.

Yep, I sent him the 1800 to split the handle and use the cup/knot combo to drop in the resin handle. I also sent a unused 1305 for him to color match the resin and use for contour matching.

I have received a few new handle blanks and I want to share them with you. There is the "Zebra", "Tiger" and "Leopard" in animal looks. Then I received a few blanks in the Jade with the brown stripe (thanks to our own Rod Neep). I have not made a handle from them, but they look really great and will make nice handles.
There will also a few new double-dyed resin stabilized blanks coming in the next few week (similar to those shown a few post up with the two brushes, one with the slanted knot).

Use it today and I'm very pleased with it. It's a TGN Finest XH 22/46mm knot set in a 50mm handle in Rudy's Dark Knight material. I asked Rudy to base the handle on the Semogue 2011 LE as I always liked its exaggerated vase shape. It turned out great! Top notch work no doubt.

The handle is as well made if not better as any out there, and those TGN knots are a truly great value for the price.

Here's a not very well taken post bloom pic. Thanks again Rudy!!

Use it today and I'm very pleased with it. It's a TGN Finest XH 22/46mm knot set in a 50mm handle in Rudy's Dark Knight material. I asked Rudy to base the handle on the Semogue 2011 LE as I always liked it's exaggerated vase shape. It turned out great! Top notch work not doubt.

The handle is as well made if not better as any out there, and those TGN knots are a truly great value for the price.

Here's a not very well taken post bloom pic. Thanks again Rudy!!

I grabbed the same one in a bst buy (larger bulb) and it is amazing. My next brush will be from RV as well. Very pleased

Mr. Rudy Vey,

What are the chances of you fashioning a custom brush in the spirit of the old B&B "essential" brush ca. 1997-8 upon request? I recently joined this forum and stumbled upon a few photos of the beaut. It appears they are long gone and was wondering if that would be something of interest to you. I'll shoot you a PM!

Cheers

I received a package yesterday from a person named Sergey C. from NY. It contained a strop. I do not use str8s, so I have no need for such an item.Think that a package was by mistake sent to me instead of someone else. Sender, please contact me.

A few more for sale here today. Two are little fellows and would make great travel brushes.

A little Chubby clone in faux ivory on the left (diameter of hole is 23 mm and the depth is 16 mm), $20 plus shipping.

In the middle, a green dyed and resin stabilized Boxelder Burl handle (diameter is 23 mm and the depth is 16 mm), $25 plus shipping.

On the right, Chubby clone in "Black Knight" (diameter of hole 20 mm and a depth of 16 mm), $20 plus shipping.

None of these are engraved with the logo, sorry. Holes could be drilled a bit deeper. First come - first serve as always. PM or e-mail me.

Update on the 2012 LE!
I have received the handles back from the engraver and started to set knots in. First will be the Shavemac knotted brushes and I have shipped already the first 30 brushes out. Hope to finish up on the Shavemac's tomorrow. Then the next week I am traveling for my job out of the country. The TGN knots will be set next weekend and ship then afterwards.

The top picture shows the last of the Shavemac's, the bottom the waiting next 50 handles for TGN knots.

Update:
all the Shavemac knotted brushes are in the mail!! Yesterday I also started setting the knots in the brushes that will sport a TGN knot. This morning I glued in another 20 knots. Hope to finish up the brushes on the coming weekend and ship them.
The shipping part so far has be a pain, paypal really drove me nuts over the weekend. I calculated that each shipment took me a good 6-7 minutes. I had to refresh paypal at least after each 3-4 shipment..."paypal shipping not available at this time"....never happened before, so I guess it had to do with their server.

Final update: all the TGN knots are set in, everything but nine are packed, 26 labeled already and go to the drop box of my PO tomorrow morning. Three to Canada will be shipped on Monday. Would have loved to pack them all, but ran out of packaging peanuts....Started yesterday at 9 am, and finished at around 5:30 - packing and shipping always takes forever. After I get some packaging material later today, the rest gets packed and shipping-labeled.

Gives me time to find that perfect brush stand for it...Congrats on the new house ... I'm waiting to close on mine, but the seller is having paperwork problems on her end to prove she is the Legal Owner.

I went through a scare with my brush when I moved out of my last place and forgot to update my PayPal address. It got sent to my old apartment, and the Landlord and I are not on speaking terms except through our attornies. I was afraid he would take the package and either sell it for cash or take it for personal use or trash it like he did with a lot of my other possessions and packages that were delivered there right before I moved out.

But luckily, Rudy sent it via USPS and I had a ChangeAddress order with them, and it went out for delivery and got re-routed at the front door.

I got it on Saturday, #33 with the DO1 knot, and used it Saturday night with some Irisch Moos cream and ASB ... it preformed brilliantly, WOW, what a brush!

... but then again, what else could one expect to come out of the RV studio?

I guess one of the reasons I ship with USPS - not only is it cheaper than UPS/Fedex, but the idea of forwarding to a new address is great. I hope by now most of the US brushes have been received. Sorry, Canadians, looks like it always takes a bit longer to get to your homes than everywhere else in the world....Most of the Europeans have their brushes in hand by now (or in the hand of customs....). I was quite amazed how fast it went to Denmark and Sweden.

Rudy ... where can I buy the tubes that you included with the B&B LEs '11 & '12?

I'd like to get a dozen or so to encase my other brushes, so I can put them on display in identical casings ... since the plastic on those tubes is crystal clear, it makes it a much better display choice than the 2 translucent Muhle-Pinsel tubes I bought a few months ago. The M-P tubes are fine for travel, but I'm looking for a way to protect and showcase my brushes at home.

Thanks!

Rudy Vey

Here are a few pictures of the tubes I use for protecting my brushes during shipping. The tubes can be used also as a travel tube for larger brushes. If you have to store some brushes, which need to be totally dry before putting them in the tube, these tubes come in very handy. The knot is protected from getting dusty, and also keeps bugs away.

Price would be about $1 (could be a bit less, depending on the amount I order) - this is my cost, so I make nothing on these - a service for my fellow B&B friends. Shipping is extra and depending on the number of tubes ordered.

I don't think I will use padded envelopes. My idea is to max out the small boxes I have, I guess I can get as much as 8 or 10 in there. For larger amounts, I would either send in more than one box or utilize the medium and large flat rate boxes - need to see how much can be fitted in either one. After I get back next week, I will post here what fits in what box.

breadstick
06-01-2012, 01:25 PM
For something like this, I would suggest against a flat rate box. They're so light that you'd probably pay half as much for shipping if you use a regular box. One trick I've found if you have a lot of flat rate boxes around is to cut one side of the box so you can tape it together inside out. That way, the flat rate lettering is on the inside and you can just pay the regular shipping.

I found out this trick after wasting a considerable amount of money on a very large sale on the B/S/T.

Gents,

I have been absent a while with a newborn daughter and a move, and the brushes I'm posting about have been in use for months now. Nonetheless, I thought I'd poke my head in here just to show them off, finally. I had been using a Savile Row 3122 exclusively for a while, but these two supplanted it.

I'm really always happy with the handles Rudy makes, but in particular on these two I was a bit of a pain with the specificity of what I wanted. I got exactly what I had in mind, and I couldn't be more pleased.

The first is a Sambar stag antler handle, truly beautiful stuff. The knot is a 24/48 Shavemac D01 3-band silvertip.

http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/14268/Sambar.jpg

The second handle is turned from resin-stabilized Mesquite. I have wanted a wood handle that would last forever since I got into wetshaving. Resin-stabilized wood is a completely saturated material and will not absorb water. As such ,it is pretty much impervious to water/lather damage and will last a lifetime. Mesquite is pretty stuff, and Texas has lots of it, so I settled on this over some more exotic and highly figured stuff. The shape is a very curvaceous Persian Jar, exactly as I'd hoped, and the knot is a Shavemac Finest 24/47 (though it measures more like 25-26/47).

http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/14268/Mesquite_handle.jpg

These are heirloom pieces IMO. Both are magnificent to hold and handle, the hair in both is outstanding, and Rudy's work is just impeccable. Always. I am very enamored of these beauties, and I use one or the other almost every single day. I dig the Shavemac knots, even though they are both quite different to one another. In fact, the differences between them allows me a bit of variety, even in a two-brush rotation. At any rate, the point here is Rudy's work. He did all of the legwork on procuring the knots, as always, and he answered far too many e-mails from me about the look of the Sambar antler. He is one of the great gentlemen among a pretty good bunch that I have encountered in this hobby, always patient and kind and helpful.

Thank you, Rudy. These brushes have helped make my daily shaves a bastion of sanity, security, aesthetic joy, and peace in the midst of a whirlwind few months.

Gents, buy from this man.

I will play around with all the possibilities - and try to find the best and cheapest way of shipping. However, smaller numbers can be shipped in a box with first class mail. If the weight goes above 13 oz (in USA) then I need to use priority mail. The standard boxes I have are good, I think, for 8-10 tubes.

Only one size: 1.75" diameter and 5.125" long - they are golf ball tubes for three balls. They fit most of the brushes I make, only the real big ones do not fit (I mean those huge Chubbies with 30 mm knots...).

Here another arrival of the last week, some natural colored Boxelder Burl blocks that should make some superb brush handles. I show them together here with the slightly color-enhanced "Golden BEB". First up are two Keyhole-styled brushes. These were some of the samples I made for the 2012 LE brush, the third variation was chosen. Hole size is 24 mm in diameter. Depth is 15 mm on the left handle and 14 mm on the right handle. Price is $25 each plus shipping the left brush is sold

Then there are two R7 handles, a M7 inspired handle, one in faux ivory (SOLD) and one in faux tortoise shell (SOLD). Hole diameter again is 24 mm and the depth is 20 mm on the ivory brush and 18 mm on the tortoise shell. Price is $30 each plus shipping

First come - first serve as always. Knot holes could be deepened on the keyholes if needed, or the R7's could be drilled a smidgen wider (say open them up to 26 mm hole diameter).

Here is one of my latest restorations:
http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/296759-what-I-found-yesterday-in-Antique-store-Brush

The brush shown in this post made it to my shop and I found the knot to be in great shape, not hair loss. So, as per the owners request I cleaned the knot, sterilized it and then lathered it up in my hand a few times. Did a splendid job, so no need for a new knot. The I took to the handle. Carefully polishing with a bamboo skewer stick removed the green oxidation layer. A final buffing with rouge and white diamond brought out the sheen of the brass and the lucite. Here is the restored brush:

Another restoration from this week.
Here is my customer's email:

"I recently acquired an Erskine 3106 brush that I purchased from a friend who thought he knew how to restore...epic fail. I believe the brush can be salvaged but I do not have the know how nor the tools required. It would appear the steam method left a film on the handle, it can be sanded I'm certain knowing my finger nail can scratch it off but not completely. I would love to bring this old brush back to life, would you be interested in taking on the restoration?"

The first picture shows the brush looked when it arrived, and the second photo shows it after the residue on the handle was removed, but still with the original old boar knot - now it has a nice Silvertip Grade A in it..

Hey, that's my brush. It will be here tomorrow with me. I sent it to Rudy and he did a great job on cleaning and polishing it. Rudy is great guy to work with. I can't wait to try that brush. And definitely I will order from Rudy in near future. Thanks Rudy

Just out of curiosity, how do you go about sterlizing the old knot?

Just out of curiosity, how do you go about sterlizing the old knot?

How did I sterilize the brush??
First I washed it out, hand-lathering with some soapy water to remove all the grime and dust and also to see if there are any hairs coming loose. Then rinse it thoroughly with warm running water. The sterilization, or better disinfection, was done with the Sally's brand of Barbicide, very diluted (4 oz/gal - according to their recommendations for barber tools) for some ten minutes. Again rinse out very well and then hand-lathered with a nice soap 3x times, followed by very good rinsing and drying for two days. No hairs came out and the knot is quite nice for such an old brush.

A couple of orphans, on the left a Chubby1, which was made for a customer who then decided against it, happens sometimes. The wood is resin stabilized and golden dyed Maple Burl. Diameter of the hole is 15/16" (or about 23.5 mm) and the depth is 17 mm. Price is $25 plus shipping.

The other is a left over from my last offer a few weeks back. These were some of the samples I made for the 2012 LE brush, the third variation was chosen. Hole size is 24 mm in diameter and about 14-15 mm deep. Price was lowered to $20 plus shipping.

As always, first come - first serve. I will be traveling for my real job from tomorrow on through all week. So if you buy one of these, it will ship next Saturday.

Some soaps for sale that do not get much use:
Very lightly used Trumper's Eucris in the black wooden bowl plus a refill puck. Purchased directly from Trumper's UK when it came out some years ago and was not obtainable here in the USA. I like to get $30 plus shipping for the lot (if you purchase both together, the price is about $48-50 for both).

SOLD Some tallow based artisan soaps, I do like them, but they get not much use at all (each was used 7 times or less and are all 95% full). Two Queen Charlotte Soaps (Key Lime and Vetiver) and Mystic Water in Mysore Sandalwood. I would like to get $25 plus shipping for them (if purchased they would add up to something like $40). SOLD

as a general rule, the surplus handles shown are "handle only" no knot. you guy a knot from WhippedDog or TheGoldenNib and put it in yourself, then you can choose what grade hair you want.

Rudy's handles are very nice

Sorry my friend, it is for the handle alone. From time to time I make a handle and then the customer decides he wants a different one, or jumps off completely like in this case. Then I have a surplus handle and I sell them so others can enjoy a RV Shaving handle and I have no loss for making this handle.

Rudy just passed along some pics of the brush that he finished up for me today. It is a 24mm TGN Silvertip standing tall at a 52-53mm loft. It is set in a beautiful golden box elder burl handle that takes its shape from the Rooney style 1 - the round top was copied from the Dark Knight brush featured earlier in this thread. It is just awaiting the final touches from the engraver this weekend, and then it will be on its way to me! I am pleased to call this brush my first "real" brush.

Rudy was a pleasure to work with. He was able to take the picture in my head and make it a reality. Thanks RV!

Gentlemen, I have in my possession a custom made Rudy Vey brush. I chose the handle shape which is a classic look I think and is made from a block of Burl Redwood. I think it looks fantastic! The knot is a 22mm super silver tip badger and I choose the bulb style.

Thanks Rudy for this finely crafted brush!

As an alternative to payment with paypal, I also take credit cards. The way I process my cards, without a machine, I need not only the card number, expiration date, name on card and the security code, but also your zip code where the card is registered - the reason I can only process USA based credit cards. The system I use is called "Propay" and allows small businesses as mine to take credit cards without the high monthly fees. I use this now for several years and never had any issues with it. On your card statement "Ultimatependesigns" will appear.
But, I also take check, money order, and even cash

I often get the question what loft I would recommend. Loft is often depending how you lather and what you use. Soap users and face lather often prefer a shorter loft, while bowl lather guys prefer a longer loft. But, YMMV. I have taken quite some time ago pictures of a 20 and a 22 mm knot in the two standard shapes bulb and fan and trying to show how the shape of the knot is affected when setting it at a certain loft. The info is here:

http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/143551-So-you-want-to-know-parts-1-4

When I make a brush and the customer asks me for a certain loft height, I will do always my best and put the knot at the requested height. I strive to be within a +/- 1 mm range, which I think is quite achievable. For doing so, I shim the knot with small slices of cork to get to the requested loft.

Can't help but say something good for Mr. Vey. I'm in the midst of brainstorming and getting stuff around to get a brush from him and he's been nothing short of an absolute gentleman about it. It has included just about all the difficulties that he could receive from a customer, and he has still been very courteous about it. I'm actually excited to get to give him the money when I can.
And I know it will be very worth of being shave porn. I will post a picture when things materialize.

The Rooney is for scale, and for a little experiment I have in mind. Rudy's restoration is an Erskine E1000 handle with a Shavemac D01 two-band, 20-mm x 40-mm. The Rooney was damp for all three shots, and the D01 for the last two.

Well, this is my first real post since joining, and I figured that this thread would be the appropriate place for it. I've spent quite a bit of time reading through all 47 pages of this thread, and I was very impressed with the wide variety of new and restored brushes that people have gotten from Rudy Vey over the past several years. I looked at all of the pictures that are still in the thread, settled on butterscotch or butterscotch marble early on, and then decided to go with a classic Persian Jar style handle. Rudy dealt very patiently as I changed from a Chubby (I got a good deal on a Simpson), to the PJ, and he worked so quickly! Here is the brush I will receive next week...

First we have a two-tone, Maize and Blue (like U of M colors...) which has some little blue swirls in the maize (left over residues from an earlier cast), hole diameter is 22 and 18 mm deep; $22 plus shipping

Then a butterscotch PJ, hole diameter is 22 and the depth is 19 mm; $22 plus shipping

The last picture shows a resin stabilized Dymondwood "Charcoal" handle in Chubby/Stubby style. Sweet little brush handle with a 22 mm hole and a depth of 15 mm; $25 plus shipping

That's my tiger! I just got it from the mailman about 30 minutes ago, I'm uploading a couple of pictures and then I'm off to shower and shave with this 30mm Behemot.

I asked for the bottom "slim" section to be 27 mm so it could fit on my stand. For comparison my previous favorite (I'm already demoting it before even trying this one) a Frank Shaving 22mm Finest

The bottom of the handle does look like a tiger, the rest looks more like a 70's Groovy wall art, don't you think?

May not do any brushes and handles this week and weekend, just got back from the Medemerge with three stitches in my left index finger - results from opening a can of dog food gone bad.
Picture to follow tomorrow - if you don't mind. I am so po'ed about that stupid can opener which was not cutting all the way through, and the stupid me trying to break off the lid completely. Nice, deep gouge that bled like a stuck pig. Went to the doctor and they said I need stitches and a few days of rest and no work whatsoever with the finger - just missed the tendon by a hair....

It will be interesting if I am picked. I have a few of them, and now it seems the market is beginning to open up to this hair. It went from a sacred hair strand to becoming widely available.

So... Rudy, where did you get your new knots from? Do you have any photo's of the mystery knots? I'm curious to say the least.

I want to thank Ridy for the new brush he made for me with a handle as per my specs and a Shavemac D01 3-band knot . Also, I want to thank him for the added Arco stick, and to Joe from shaveabuck for the complimetary Lea shaving cream tube.
I just used the brush first time tonight, and I'm very happy with it. The handle is very comfortable, and the knot is exactly how I wanted it - 23.5 mm diameter and 49 mm loft.

Below are pre- and post- bloom photos attached:

Just wanted to chime in on the generosity of Mr. Vey.

Rudy recently posted up some leftover handles he had for sale, and I was a little too slow on the PM function and missed out.

Not only did Rudy agree to make me another one out of the same material, but he also let me opt to have it sized for a 24mm knot instead of 22mm.

Thank you very much, Rudy! Hope your hand is feeling better!

Thank you. Rudy had described it as a resin stabilized "Dymondwood" Charcoal handle in a Chubby/Stubby style.

I have a boar brush coming from Rudy that has the same handle material. The knot is a large Omega professional knot.

Just got my glamour shot from Rudy. He happened to have a Shavemac D01-2 Band left over from the B&B brushes.

Hi Guys,
This is a few firsts for me (first post on B&B, first Rudy Vey brush, and my first silvertip brush as well), and I have been meaning to upload these for a while but couldn't due to internet outage. Rudy made this beautiful horn brush with a 26mm knot, and I couldn't be happier! The handle is huge, a little bigger than I expected too (in a good way). As this is my first silvertip I had no idea what exactly to expect (my other brush is a Van Der Hagen pure badger brush), and boy was I BLOWN AWAY!! It is fantastic and I can't thank Rudy enough for the amazing job. Is is sad that Ii'm already wanting another one, and thinking of the design I want for it? :001_smile

Nice!

Rudy, what knot is that? I still have the M7-style tortoise handle (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/160924-Rudy-Vey-Custom-Shaving-Brushes-and-Restorations?p=4205480#post4205480) I got from you unfilled, and am now seriously thinking about putting the 22mm TGN Super Silvertip knot I have in it. I'm down to my last three knots (TGN Finest fan, TGN Finest bulb, TGN Super Silvertip, all 22mm), and I think the silvertip will look/work great in that handle.
