Folks, just a heads up that tonight, the Northern Lights may be visible in lower lattitudes. Keep your eyes open!

Sweet! Thanks a bunch for the heads up, we get a pretty good look at the northern lights when they come out here. I think the best is in winter though, they seem to dance more then!

Too much light pollution around here. Cursed urban sprawl.

Not looking forward to this tonight as it will most likely prompt phone calls from my crew tonight as I am the on call persons.....

You should still be able to see it, it will be bigger tonight than in the last 15 years.

I just stepped outside and I think I missed it or can't see it. I live near Ft. Lauderdale. Anyone else see it?

just ran outside to take a look. First it's too bright from all the city lights, second, way too cloudy. Oh well.

does anybody know how far south one might be able to see them? When I lived in north Alabama I saw them several years ago. It was a enjoyable event.:thumbup1:

Sitting in Auburn, Al right now...if they can be visible here, let me know so I can take out these street lights.

Hey, we just saw them! And clear down here in Kansas to boot! If I had just looked out and not seen this post, I would have thought it to be heat lightning. Not so. We started seeing flashes and then noticed they had a reddish tint to them. And they leaped across the skies but quite quickly. Just flashes. That is about as good as it gets this far south. Thanks for the heads up.

Have more important things to do than watch the northern lights. I've been preparing for the temporal anomaly since 1984. Captain Video official space helmet on: check. Dick Tracy decoder ring: check. Abdul Alhazred's temporal chant, decode by DT: check. Eye of Newt, Toe of Frog, Wool of Bat... Wool of Bat?... Where's my Wool of Bat? Oh, darn! The apothecary closed at 6.

I wish I was still living in the Northwest - I've never seen the aurora. Ain't much out there in Los Angeles tonight.

Aha. That explains why yesterday my GPS told me to drive off a cliff it thought was a Taco Bell.

How could you be out of Wool of Bat? I heard from Jim that was a important part of your coffee recipe.......

I'm going camping next month in a Dark Sky Reserve (http://www.sepaq.com/pq/mme/index.dot?language_id=1) (no lights, agreements with neighboring communities to have as little lights as possible after 10pm) , apparently early September is peak solar winds season so there's a chance that we'll be able to see the northern lights.

Last night however was total thunderstorms and nothing to see.

AAAH! I FORGOT TO LOOK!:scared:

Oh, who am I kidding? It was overcast and I'm probably too far south to have seen it anyway (and that, kids, is how I delude myself into not being disappointed.)
