Hello gents, just thought I would introduce my self, I live in Ottawa, Canada ,and have shaved all my life with disposibles and, needless to say, had awful shaves, then I started shaving with a DE and finally a straight, I have been on this journey now for 11 months and the shaves just keep getting better, I still use my Gillette Fatboy most workdays. I look forward to learning from you, and reading all your posts.
Thank you, John :001_smile
Welcome John. Good to have you.

Welcome!
I'm moved to Ottawa (from Toronto) last August.
Check out the Ottawa Cigar Emporium in the Market for a great selection of Art of Shaving products.

Here in Ottawa we have a few choices for shaving supplies.
We are lucky enough to have proraso products at Shoppers Drug Mart along with some cheap Omega Brushes.
Same can be found at the Glebe Apothecary on Bank Street where they have a few cheap boar brushes to try.
We have a new store on Bank downtown, Stroked Ego with Eshave products and some Col. Clonk and new DE razors (although rather pricey).
As noted earlier, Cuban Connections in the market has some Murkur and AOS stuff (as does Holt Renfrew which stocks a few creams and AOS oil and aftershave).
Finally, we have access through the web to Fendrihan and Rasage Poulin which both are Canadian based and excellent!

Thanks for all your kind words, you sure make a person feel welcome.
Granaura, Thank you, I was hoping someone would know of somewhere I had not yet discovered, to go along with those mentioned you can also get Booster aftershave and Geo F.Trumper at The barber's chair in the rideau center, and one I just discovered on Sunday, Imperial Barber Shop, been in business for 105 years and sells mercur and Kent products (to name a few) I was able to get a puck a Kent shaving soap and am excited to try it because I have heard good things about Mitchell's wool fat. The web site is www.ImperialBarberShop.com and they have three stores I was in the Slater st. location and spoke with Gilles who said they are willing to order anything their suppliers sell, just send him an email.

Funny, I got a straight shave on my wedding day at the Rideau location (much irritation, not recommended on your big day) but I never though about getting stuff there...
What types of Trumpers? or booster? I use the lime trumper cream and skin food.. any chance of a local supply (lol.. more local than Mississauga?)
Any Vegetal vendors? lol.. i want to know if I'm chosen..

I am not sure what they carry I was there last fall, but The Imperial barber shop had A puck of Kent's which is Mitchell's Wool fat rebranded, their online store appears to be down, but when talking with the owner of the Slater st. location he indicated that he would be happy to order anything his suppliers carry. I want to visit the other two locations to see what they may have in stock, I wouldn't mind getting another puck of Kent and the Slater location is sold out, also would like to see one of their straights they might be good and only $45 very reasonable. Oh ya, you can also get Boosters ( http://www.thebeautyfactory.com/booster.html )at a small barber shop on Preston at Somerset.

I went down to this tiny shop at Preston and Somerset (a real italian barber with real barber chairs with strops).
Bought a nice bottle of booster icy lime to complement my Trumpers Lime Cream and Lime Food!
I smell like jello and I like it!
Thanks for the new place!! I would never have found it!

Glad I could help out, it is a great little shop. It is nice to find things locally instead of paying shipping all the time, I wish I could find some Tabac or Castle Forbes. I was wodering if you Know anything about the Fromm strops at Imperial, I have heard that they are rebranded Illinois 124 strops. For $60 it might be worth picking one up, specially since it is local.

Tabac can be found at Scentiments in the St Laurent mall, no ideas for Castle Forbes locally.

Imperial deals in Pinaud Clubman, and Gilles Lamenoise on slater said he would be happy to order whatever someone might want, just send him an email and they should order some for you.
P.S. I am in no way affilliated with any business I have mentioned. I am just a happy customer.
