How did you get your desktop like that? Is that a PC with a Mac theme? It looks great.

My background is the German eagle (after having the Mac default for months :001_rolle). I may get an app to change the background every few minutes.

By PC I assume you mean Windows? All computers are PCs. Apple Macs are PCs, they run the Apple OSX operating system. Computers using Windows are PCs too. Anyway the nerd in me hates the way that all computers running Windows are described as PCs. Personally I run GNU/Linux as the OS, commonly known as Linux. Linux is available in many different forms and the one I favour is Ubuntu Linux. Linux is available 100% free and is available for anyone to use. I am running a program called the Avant Window Navigator to give a Mac style dock.

Sorry, I am a geek.

This is my current windows desktop, I am getting the itch to change it though, I usually change it about every week, but this has stayed for nearly a month. (could be due to the fact that I spend most of my time in Linux now... when I boot back into Ubuntu I will have to screenshot that.)

I've been reading a lot of Greek mythology lately, and I must admit that since I started shaving, I've been paying an extra bit of attention to Hermes, for no better reasons than him being Merkur's namesake and because he is one of the few gods who is consistently portrayed as clean-shaven (the only other one of the twelve major gods being Apollo).

After finishing Ovid's Metamorphoses, I re-read one of my favorite collections of Greek myths: Bernard Evslin's Heroes, gods, and monsters of the Greek myths. In it, he typically includes a rough hand-drawn sketch of each chapter's main character, and I was really taken by his sketch of Hermes. Long-story short (too late), I scanned the image into photoshop, played with the contrast for a second, put a border around it and then a drop shadow, and bam (!), my new desktop:

My mind changes on my desktop background about every 5 minutes. I am currently rolling this...

What window-manager, desktop environment, or whatever are you using with that? I experimented with Compiz in the past (Mint LXDE), but wasn't able to figure out how to use some of the features.

Are you at Penn State? Me tooooooooooooooooo. They say you can find penn staters anywhere in the world and I suppose this forum, being a "place", holds true to the saying!
