I have a nos Legión Extranjera open comb, made in Argentina (no other markings, no other info on the box). Looking at it, I noticed the teeth are longer on one side. Is this to get an aggressive side for the first pass and a milder side for the second pass? If so, which side is more aggressive? Are there any other oc's with different sides?

Curious that the foreign legion have a razor, as they are the only ones in the French Army who are allowed to grow beards.

There was also a Spanish foreign legion. And (that's what I think) it can be a brand name, and have nothing to do with the foreign legions.

Obviously, it is not meant to be issued to the French Foreign Legion, since the brand name is in Spanish. Nor is it marketed to Spain, and the giveaway there is the pronoun "nos", which is not much seen outside South America. My guess is that it is indeed made in Argentina, and is/was sold in Argentina, and has no connection to any particular military unit.

Right that is also my guess, only nos here means new old stock, it is not a pronoun. But is there someone who can answer the op?

Thanks, mine came in a card board box with the soldier on it, and it looks like the last one (eo), old-type clone with ball handle. But is there anyone that can answer my op?

I put a Treet Black Beauty in. The side with the long teeth exposed much more blade than the other side. So I took the long side to be the aggressive side, and did pass 1 (WTG) with that and pass 2 (XTG) with the short side. Result was a very good, irritation free and smooth shave.

I guess experience is the best teacher! :001_smile

That is a neat little feature that I have never heard of before.

There is no such thing as a french foreign legion "razor". The french legion is
called Legion Etrangere, a different spelling for one thing, french not spanish. Items issued to the legion are held in common, they are all the same, in other words there is no such thing as a specialty item, everyone would be issued one or no one would have one except for items of personal property, which are few. There is a cheap little throw away kind of razor you get when you first go in and then later on when you are assigned to a company you can have your own personal razor but they are not "issue." How do I know? Been there done that. Don't know anything about a spanish legion but it was probably a good way to advertise the argentinian made gillettes. Theft is a big problem in any military unit and most people simply did not go in for any kind of exotic kit. Lots of people shave by the way in the legion beards are not all that common as you might suppose. It was the style more of an earlier time likt it was in this country. BC

They are the ones that allow you to "hide" your razor if you are captured. You don't want a second hand one. :tongue_sm

Hey, does this make me the Australian foreign Legion? :w00t:

Can the top plate be used either way, or is it keyed to keep one side next to the same set of teeth at all times?

David, I can put the top plate on in both ways, so it is not keyed to one side.
