At this moment I am enjoying a Sundance Amber Ale from the Boulder Brewing Company. What a fine ale this is. A complex flavor, slightly bitter yet very drinkable. The lacing on the glass is thick and clinging. A real pleasure. I think I'll have another.
Good- it's available in NJ. I'll look for some. :thumbup1:

Hmmm. I haven't seen those. Last new (to me) ale I tried was a Cooper's Ale from Australia. It was very nice, btw.

I haven't seen that one, but in general, ale is my favorite type of beer. I try all kinds, but I always go back to Bass.

It's been a long time since I've had Chesterfield but as I recall it was pretty darn good. And yes, economical. Maybe I will revisit it soon. Yuengling products are all worth a try!

When you purchase packaged ales, beer, etc. it is usually a crapshoot in regard to freshness, storage, shipping, handling. I think they are at their best when unpasteurized, unfiltered, on draft served without CO2 or Nitro on the premises of a local brewpub or microbrewery and if I can't have them that way; I will drink water. Beers and Ales like Wines are living things and filtering and pasteurization kill them and thus rob them of that which makes them unique and enjoyable. A pox on those who do so and a plague upon all their houses. They are perishable foodstuffs and as such are at their best when fresh. Think of pasteurization and filtering as life support systems for Beers, Ales, and Wines; it will enable them to live live longer but it will not make them better.

What pubs / microbrewerys / holes - in - the - wall do you frequent for these delicious beverages ?
Do you ever consume commercially available brews and if so, which do you recommend ?

Rick, derned tootin' I'm particular when I'm footin' the bill 'cause when I'm paying for it I will have it my way.
Metrosexual? Wottinell is that?
I have no favorite brewpub or microbrewery just try 'em as I find 'em and ask questions hence my pen name. "There is no disputing one's taste."
Quality is harder to define than to ascertain but it well worth the effort.
I spent my working career as a buyer and as such, have spent my life seeking knowledge and quality; no regrets for having done so.

Is that by Yuengling? They're one of my favorite breweries- America's original microbrewer.
I love their lager and porter. Dump a bottle of porter in a pot of black beans, et voila!

Oh snap!!
This just reminded me that the beer I bottled the weekend before last (an ale) is going to be ready to drink this weekend!! horray!! It is an orangish (go Tigers) semi light ale fairly hopped. This is our third rendition of it. Hopefully we are getting closer to perfecting it. Look for Alefire and Brimstone on the market soon.

Rick: No offense taken.
BobO: Sudwerks is definitely one of my favorite Lagers. I will be in Davis this week and with the warm weather beer becomes my alcoholic beverage of choice along with white wine. There used to be a Sudwerks in Sacramento #%^&*#!
I am a seasonal drinker--warm/hot weather blonde beers/ales and white wines; cool weather red wines and amber ales/beers; cold/rainy if anything strong ales/beer, fortified wines, spirits. Not much for alcohol at all during long hours of darkness and short hours of light since alcohol is a depressant and I don't want a bout with SAD. However this site and those who contribute to it, can brighten any day--thankee.

The beer's not bad, but the Goulash is fantastic.
Last time I was there (last August), the word was they had recently changed owners.

I have been there a couple of times but the last was probably 5 years ago. Any time I am in the area I am usually at Cantina del Cabo where my brother is a bartender...they have a couple beers on tap...I believe around 70.
