View Full Version : Lost my DE mojo?

My last few DE shaves have been terrible, some nasty slices and tonight a bad case of razor burn. I'm wondering if this is because I've been focussing my attention on straight shaving for the last six weeks and just occasionally shaving with my DE safety razors.

Tonight i pulled out my Merkur Futur, my new Simpson brush and Boots SS and got a pretty decent shave but even before i got out of the shower i could tell my face felt a good dose of razor burn.

Applied some Proraso 'pre & post' shave cream and some Old Spice AS (Yikes that stuff stings). I'm left wondering if part of the problem is my confidence with my DE Blade having recently had my fair share of nasty cuts. Its odd that i don't seem to be having the same problems with my straight razor.

Sometimes a rut will happen, as it does to all of us, as your confidence in shaving may be insufficient or you are just overconfident. Just take a day off and that will likely resolve your problem.

Oh no the Mojo is lost. You must sacrafice a blade and puck of VDH on an pyre of fusion carts to appease the shave gods!!!

Maybe it's the weather. A change in humidity or something could have changed your skin's texture or something?

After converting over to the straight I can never seem to pull off a good shave with a DE. I only very occasionally use a DE, only when I'm pressed for time so that's probably my issue.

I like that, I'll give it a go and see if that improves my results :-)

I switch off straight's and DE and my experience has been just the opposite.

I find my DE shaves are faster and better after I started using straights.
