One of my favorite advertising slogans is: "new and improved". It is an oxymoron. If something is new, how can it be improved? Which brings me to the point. I have been back stateside for a few weeks now, and have been using the vintage Gillettes that I picked up on fleabay for small change-56' red tip, undated superspeed, flair tip superspeed, and a black superspeed adjustable. I have been using them all with Noxzema sensitive foam in a can, as I did not want to use the soaps and creams until I get back to Israel.

Using these old razors with one of 3 blades-Astra platinum, Israeli redpak personnas, or the crystal + is giving me the shaves of my life. I am now getting on a reliable basis, a 3 pass DFS shave, no weepers, nicks, or razor burn. If I want BBS, out comes the adjustable, and taking my time, I get an irritation free amazing shave.

So, all of this "new and improved" technology is NOT.

When I see a product advertised as "new and improved" it always makes me think "So all this time I have been using old and inferior."

Anyway, glad you are enjoying your shaves.

I think it's safe to say that the phrase has lost some meaning, especially when we apply it to ninety-year-old Gillettes.
