Here are two straight razors that I've restored using the original scales. I've polished up the scales and they look fantastic. For these razors I did not attempt to disassemble them from their scales for fear of breaking them. Instead I use my ultrasonic cleaner to clean the hard to reach spots.
F. W. Engels (Solingen, Germany), ENGELS NO. 10, 11/16"
-Scales are yellow celluloid with faint stripes. The scales have a decorative inlay around the pivot pin and wedge pin. I think the material used might be aluminum. It's been honed and shave tested so it's shave ready. This is a fantastic razor which I'm sure you will enjoy.
$80 obo shipped to Canada and ConUS. Add $5 for international shipping.
REDUCED NOW $60
Sold for $60 + $5 for international delivery.
Challenge Cutlery (Bridgeport, Conn.), 5/8"
-Scales are black celluloid. Nice and shiny. Honed and shave tested. Ready to shave as well. The second photo has some strange lighting on the tang which looks like tang is damaged where the two 'LL's are in 'CHALLENGE'. Just wanted to let you know that it's fine.
$65 obo shipped ConUS and Canada. Add $5 for international shipping.
REDUCED NOW $55 OBO
I will use standard shipping. If you want tracking or insurance please inquire. I am ok with Paypal or other cleared payment method. Thank you for looking.

Hello,Nice and clean pieces:thumbup1:
You mentioned a ultronsic bath. Is this like jeweler's use? Will it harm goldwash or inlay's? Also ,what are the size of the microfastener's and where may i find them.
Thank's, greg

Yes the ultrasonic cleaner is the same type of machine used to clean jewelry. It does a great job a cleaning the tight areas; just need to wash in water to remove the grime. From what I can see it did not harm the inlay. I would imagine that if one were to dip it in the ultrasonic 20 times that the glue holding the inlay may deteriorate but these inlays are holding great. I don't know about goldwash razors. I haven't done so yet. Perhaps the other members might be able to chime in here and answer that question.
You mentioned microfasteners. These two straights had original pins and collars. I do have microfasterners but of course did not use them here. Mine are stainless steel and I got them from a retailer selling fasteners. Just google 'fasteners in ??" where ?=your home town. You should be able to get what you need. The size would be 1/16" and the washers we use have a #0 opening. If you are asking about pins and collars, then you'll have to ask the other gents in this forum. I haven't been able to source any locally myself so I rely on the other members to sell them to me. You can also try ebay. I sell mine for $2.99 for two sets shipped on ebay.

From what I have read, the ultrasonic cleaners can ruin gold wash.
