Hey all!
I just acquired a Gem single edge razor. Any advice as to what blades I should use with it?

Howdy,
If you look around under the Blades folder, I, with input from others, wrote a review a few months back on three or four of the most commonly available brands. They were just my findings, so as always, your results might vary. :thumbup1:

I suggest trying these (http://www.walgreens.com/store/catalog/Razors-and-Blades/Gem-Super-Stainless-Steel-Single-Edge-Blades/ID=prod2041-product) to begin with, which you can find at your local Walgreens, if you have a local Walgreens. If you find Treet blades (http://hocks.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=A557587) locally, those are pretty good for a couple of shaves each, but they will rust a lot faster. By the time you've gone through a 10 pack of blades, you should have an idea whether you want to continue with a single edge razor, and you can look to save money by buying something in bulk.
Or, um, yes, I remember DonOhio's post, now that I think of it. Look for it.

You do not say what SE razor you have. I would recommend starting with a GEM 1912 or the 1912 Ever-Ready. I believe thay are the best shaving SE's ever made. I have tried, with poor success: the Micromatic Clog Pruf, a pushbutton Contour, a Feather weight, A black handle pushbutton and a 1924 Ever-Ready. They were just too aggressive for my face. YMMV. I currently own five GEM 1912's, one 1912 cased Travel SE and one 1912 Ever-Ready. I slightly prefer the Ever-Ready and the Travel. They seem to be a little bit less agressive then the GEM's. They cut smoother and are more forgiving if you lose your concentration. I have tried GEM store blades, but am currently using the Ted Pella blades. I get seven or eight shaves from each blade.
