I don't want to start fighting with people for the few that pop up on eBay but these are an incredibly smooth blade. Probably the smoothest I've used. I'm 3 shaves into one and it's been BBS each time. No weepers, no irritation, nothing. Just extremely smooth skin. I'll be interested to see how the longevity goes but generally if I can get 7, triple pass shaves out of a vintage blade, I'm happy.

That is one fine blade. It is among my top favorite two or three vintage blades.

They are great blades. I was lucky to find a full box of them recently. The combo of a Krona with a Plus Plat blade is perfect for my face.

And with that dispenser you have the option of refilling it with other blades when it's empty. (one of the few you can do that with)

I was introduced to DE shaving by a buddy who gave me a '51 SS and a few packs of these blades. Apparently his grandfather gave him a ton of stuff, and he gifted these to me. After trying Shark SC, Derby Extra, Feather, Merkur and generic Walgreens blades (which were simply awful), these Schicks were far and away my favorite.

I got 4 solid shaves per blade myself. Reeeaally wish they were still readily accessible.

They are indeed one smooth blade, probably one of the smoothest blades ever made (next to the Light Brigade).

Sadly, I could never seem to get a close shave with them . . . perhaps it was the razor.

I have several packs of these as well. I will say they are just as bad as the Gillette Spoilers. Now if you want to find some GREAT shaves, fight it out for the old carbon steel blue blades. Me, I'm trying to take the plus platinums, and spoilers out of the wild so more people don't get turned off of DE shaving.:001_rolle

Funny... I've been trying to do folks the same favor

I bought 50 of these in a BIN on the 'bay -- guy seemed to have a lot of them. I have yet to try them. I'm actually worried about trying them, lest I like them too much.

UPDATE:
Well, It's been five shaves with the same blade -- and it's still cutting beautifully. I'm not sure how many shaves is normal for this blade, but I'll shoot for a couple more.

If you like these, I also recommend the vintage Gillette Platinum Plus -- also excellent.

Cheers.

I am a fan of the Dutch Platinum Plus blades; very smooth indeed.

It is the only NOS blade I am hunting for.

Do these blades come with a coating of oil?

I've been able to push mine to ten shaves but I just use all my vintage blades now for a week (full 7 days). It makes it easy to remember when to change the blade.

Mine do not have any oil on them. But really, these vintage blades can cause premature aging. Something about the older molecules in the steel.

I started going gray when I was 17. My goatee is already salt & pepper. :001_rolle

I bought a pack of these for $1 at a flea market. Now I just wish I could find more. I've only used one blade from the pack and am saving the rest for special occasions.

This comment intrigued me. I opened my blade bank and pulled my Plus Platinum out and loaded it up. This is the fourth shave from this blade and it feels as good as new. I replaced the blade after three because that seems to be what I get out of the modern blades in my pile. I'll probably give it at least another one or two before I re-retire it.

I've been using Schick Plus Platinum blades for approximately 25 years.
While growing up my parents owned a small grocery business that sold these.
When the store closed in the late 80s my mom asked me if I could use some blades. Of course I said yes! She handed me milk crate full of packaged blades!
With the exception of trying an occasional recommended blade, I haven't needed to purchase blades my entire adult life!
I still have a good amount left but with a sixteen year old double edge shaver in the house I think our stock of blades is going to diminish. :001_smile

Don't disclose your location, or you may get a visit from some "Blade Raiders".

They are good blades. However, I have owned some of these that performed better than others. I think some of the years they were made better than others. I once opened a pack that were flat out not sharp or smooth.

How do these blades compare with the schick super stainless?

http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?ltr=S&t=122876

EDIT: While the experts are gathered, how are the plus chromium?

EDIT 2: Does schick still make decent blades? I saw some made in germany ones, but I wasn't sure if they were worth looking into

Do these also come in 10-packs, or are those different blades that come in 10-packs?

How do you load blades into that when you use them up? I have a bunch I got off eBay and I'd like to reuse the dispenser for some blades I got in a sampler.

So how do you reload them??

I'm just guessing, but you could probably slide a new blade in under the last original blade while taking it out, kinda looks like a spring loaded plate under the blades.

Only vintage blade I've tried that I can even shave with, and this one compares to the two or three types I'd consider as my only blade. I got a dispenser with one blade left in it, with a boxed English Rocket that was hiding under a buncha junk in an antique shop, all with a price tag that read $3 (the Rocket is pristine, too). Then they took 15% off of that for a storewide sale. The Heartland. I would buy these blades anytime I see a good deal on them.
