Starting my blade trials today. First out was the Shark. It feels considerably sharper, but more unforgiving and not as smooth as my regular RPIP. The Rocket is the razor with the least aggressive blade angle that I have, and I suspect that the Shark could prove extremely unforgiving, almost Feather-like, if I use a more aggressive razor... :glare:

Monday evening

Took a shave before bed. I didn't shave earlier in the eve as I wasn't really in the right frame of mind for it. In fact I was gonna leave it and then decided to shave as I didn't want to be scruffy for work today.

It would have been mums 60th birthday today but sadly she's not with us. With that in mind I decided to use my special birthday razor to cheer myself up a bit.

So I dedicated this shave to my mum. I know how she hated to see me and my old man unshaven. She was a real stickler for cleanliness.

All lime today. Used T&H WIL soap in the shower. Then broke out the Trumper's lime cream for the shave. Finished with Lime splash from Sue. Just an outstanding two-pass shave.


I've been using soaps almost exclusively, and I had forgotten how nice the Trumper's cream is.:w00t:

One of my favs, well, in fact my fav badger brush, because I like the brushes a bit small. This brush is great for facelathering because it has soft tips, but the bristles are thicker than chinese badger (vue-long usus european badger) and more rigid than expected from badger hair. Nice combo for me.

Just can't seem to get the edge right on this Klaas Prussian. I have been working on it and it's getting better but I need to go to a heavier grit hone which I don't have to re-set a good bevel. I'm not giving up yet. Adapt, improvise, overcome! :mad3: Don't mean to be a buzzkill. :blush:

hahahha That one is an ordinary seeming boar bristle number... rather light handle, though I think it's teak (?) or teak-like anyway.

Thanks for the support Mike! :001_smile I went at it on my Austrian Hone with some circular strokes and a lot more pressure to hopfully re-set the bevel. Worked up a pretty good slurry and finished off by stropping on the Linen 50-60 times and 60 on the Leather. It seemed to have a pretty keen edge so, I will give it a try again tomarrow to see if there is any improvement. I'm thinkin' the Prussian steel is pretty hard and it may be like stainless, once you finally get a good edge on, it will last for awhile. :001_unsur
