Here is the skinny I am starting the Police academy next month and will not all ways have the time for a straight shave in the morning and will have to shave daily and get a bbs I currently own a gem junior, a gillette new and a straight. I am not getting a bbs with the straight do to skill issues (working on that). That being said I would like something a little less aggressive then the New. Any ideas?

I find that my best daily shaver is a Diplomat or Aristocrat.
For me, the degree and mix of aggressiveness and smoothness is perfect.

In addition to the head design, if you're going for a BBS, it's also very important that the razor "feels right" in your hand. If you end up continually fighting the grip, then you will be fighting a losing battle.

This is analogous to shooting a handgun (I'm a firearms instructor (http://www.catoctingroup.com/)). Which by your chosen career path, I assume you are familiar with ... or soon will be! :001_cool: If it doesn't fit your hand, you won't be able to perform to the tool's maximum potential; be it a razor, handgun, baseball bat, etc.

If you were just going for a CCS, it wouldn't be that critical. But since you are going for the ultimate (BBS), if you can get your hands on a couple different razors prior to purchasing, then you can get the one that fits your hand as well as your face.

Stay Safe...

My current go-to razor is a Gillette Tech. From what I can gather it appears to be an older model from around 1940. Find it works great for me.

I never thought about it that way and it does make sense. The sad thing is that leaves only vintage there is no cutlery shops in my area.

Congrats on attending the police academy! I know it isn't easy to get in and I wish you the best on successfully completing it!

My go-to razor is the DE89L. It always gives me a BBS shave, the price is right and the workmanship is excellent. I don't think you could go wrong with one.

After some review reading and revisiting what I really needed from a razor and went back and forth a thousand times I picked up a open comb Aristocrat and a Merkur 33c. I will be shaving daily so I hedged my bets and got the 33c from what I read it is a good mid range razor. Thanks guys for your input and help
