Not sure where to put this, so I ended up here.

I'm rather fortunate in that I really don't have much acne problems and the ones I get tend to be in really awkward spots in my face - eyebrows, eyelids, inside of my ears and stuff like that. However, recently I've gotten a lot of acne on my chin and neck area (this may be due to the recent changes in diet related to exams period - a pizza is way quicker and makes less mess than what I usually cook :001_cool:).

How do you guys overcome acne when shaving? If I just shave as usual, my face ends up looking as if I used a shotgun for shaving, but if I try to go around them, I just end up leaving lots of stubbly spots here and there.

Just visited my dermatologist the other day actually, and he told me first off that I made a good choice switching to a DE because it is much better for the skin. It is best to avoid shaving over a pimple however if it is a red bump or scarring from being popped then go lightly over and be sure to use an astringent after to clean up the bacteria, he reccomended witches hazel. Also he reccomended using a glycerine based shaving soap and a soap free face wash like cetaphil. He said all this should contribute to acne clearing up and less irritation. Hope this helps.

A good diet, good habits would be the permanent solution. There are healtier pizza out there if you want to stick with pizza. Maybe try a vegetarian to start with where you won't have too much fat in it.

Soft drinks contain a *lot* of sugar. If you cut back on those, it will help.

You could visit the dermatologist to get some creams and pills but I think you can achieve something by yourself without that.

One thing that helped a lot with pimples, in my case, was to use a splash instead of a balm. The splash will dry out the pimple quickly where a balm will keep your skin more moist. I switched to the splash because I never tried it before, I was always told that it will dry my skin. Which is true but I don't see that as a bad effect. I like the feeling, sure it burns a bit but some splashes are very good and don't burn that much. You could even pick-up a splash with witch hazel (separate bottle or already in the AS). Those are very nice for the skin!

Would you consider cooking quick meals by yourself?

My diet mostly consists of chicken fillet (either with rice or pasta and vegetables), fish (baked salmon=yum!), vegetable soups, noodles with vegetables, various stews and stuff like that. I generally don't mind spending time cooking healthy food, it's just that I don't have a dishwasher, so I have to do all that by hand. Then when my exam period started a few weeks ago, I found that pizza was the quickest dinner to make and there was almost no dishwashing left afterwards.
I expect my acne problem to disappear in a few days.
