Ladies and Gentlemen! Drum roll please! It is with great delight that I do hereby announce that I am officially changing my signature. Having completed a deal to obtain off the Bay a fine example of a Silver ABC Pocket Edition razor and case of the Empire design.

Thanks go to Brian DiPalma for his kind assistance and to the seller on the Bay known as razor_collector!!! This is a fine day for the personal collection!!

Now I am seriously thinking about changing my legal name to "Dwight"!

Thank you for your rapt attention, we are now returning you to your regular programming.:001_smile

Whoa!! :w00t: I don't blame you on the name change. Will you be shaving with that or is it just for looks?

So, are you going to replate that or just scrub it with steel wool?

I'm kidding, kidding.

I am definitely going to clean it gently and shave with it. Honestly, old types are not my favorites shavers so I doubt it will be in heavy rotation. But I will use it for sure, even if it is mostly for display. Unless I have a true NOS razor, I will generally use it to shave at least once!!:001_smile

Congratulations, Chris! Your quest must be one of the longest. I'm glad you finally got one and it looks to be in excellent condition. I've used mine for the past few days and it is a great shaver. I love the balance and weight combo of the ABC razors. And the Empire design is beautiful. Congratulations!

VERY nice! ...finally.

And you'd better shave with it - these are the best of the best (and the most beautiful, too).

congratulations to you.

[aside: I'm thinking that Mr. Brian DiPalma is some sort of razor-Yenta... he makes connects men with their dream razors! (And he probably gets kickbacks from sellers.) Brian's pretty much completed my collection for me, too.]

Congratulations, Chris (Oops mean Dwight). I know you've waited a long time for this set. Enjoy it and enjoy the shave it'll give you. You might just change your mind about the Old Type after you use it.

Congrats! That is a beauty.

I can't believe the Shrute family let an heirloom like that go!

(couldn't pass on the obvious "the office" joke)

That is absolutely beautiful!

Now I am seriously thinking about changing my legal name to "Dwight"!
I believe we already have a Dwight here, would Stan-the-man be OK instead?

First, congratulations on getting your dream razor!

This brings up a question, though, for you ABC collectors. These were originally sold with that area blank, and the owner would get it engraved if it suited him to do so. Nowadays, if you found one of these with that area still blank, would you get it engraved with your name, or would that spoil it somehow? That's a serious question, and of course, I'm assuming that you know an engraver that you trust not to botch the job.
