Nice score indeed, you'll love the shave from a slim. Just remember the extra 1/4 turn to lock the doors and don't adjust without having the doors open.

3 is a good place to start with the Slim. Later you can open it up if you're so inclined...

I bought a Slim for $12 a few months, ago. Now I see most are going for double of what I paid. The next Fatboy?

Probably not, due to the simple fact that slims were produced over a ~15 year period vs the fb being produced only for 4 years.

Seems a little milder than my Fatboy, at least to me. I like the Fatboy at 5. I've been using the Slim at 7.

I guess it depends on how aggressive you like your razor to be.

If it were me I'd start at 4 rather than 3 unless your beard is really soft and sparse or you are enamored of mild razors. YMMV.

Arent the heads on the Slim and Fatboy identical? I know the fatty weighs a bit more but I was under the assumption of the above.

Nope. The slim's head is flatter -- less domed -- than the fatboy.
Hold up a 40s superspeed and a regular superspeed and you'll see a similar difference.

Totally not the same. The difference in the head shape is probably why the aggressiveness is different. At least it sure seems like it is. Also, the feel of the razor is different from a Fatboy. For me, getting the shaving angle right seems more intuitive with the Fatboy, but, as always, YMMV.
