Shaving scuttle size?

I would like to get a shaving scuttle and have checked out all the most popular ones. What would be an ideal size? They come in various dimensions and it seems that you don't want one that is too large. How about this size?
Dimensions:
Overall 5.5W x 3.25H
Inside Bowl 4.75W x 2.5H

Would someone provide some dimensions that are just about right? Thanks.

Scuttles like everything else are a love/hate depending on personal preference. Since you have the measurements find something (like a cereal bowl) with similar dimensions and see if it's comfortable for you to build a lather in. I've got a couple of different sized rjbecker13 scuttles from e-bay and I love one of them but I'm not feeing it for the other (based on size).

Check with Julie at www.dirtybirdpottery.com, she makes one very find scuttle, and in several sizes. She'll also be very helpful and work with you. I bought the regular size scuttle, but found that her 1.5 size is just perfect. :thumbup1:

Yes, but Julie's 1.5 scuttle is $54.00. I think Robert Becker can make one very much like it for about $18.00 + shipping.

My scuttle experience is somewhat limited as I only have one, but I found the Dirty Bird 1.5 to be damn near perfect. I based the purchase on my brush sizes - if you run small brushes, the small might work for you. If you have big brushes, the large might be a better choice.
