I called the C&E online 800 number about the EJ BBB which is out of stock and they had a B&M store that has the brush in stock call me. (The online store said they won't have the brush back in stock until around the middle of March.)
When the B&M C&E called I ordered the brush over the phone and added enough shaving soap to get free shipping.
I got my blade assortment from letterk Friday and have been waiting to begin using any of them until my new razor showed up. I used up the very last of my old blades this morning.
I went to the mailbox this afternoon and there was my new Merkur Classic 1904 from QED waiting for me. (Dang, that was fast!!!) Now I have a new razor and 50 new blades to start trying out tomorrow morning.
Also, my case of Palmolive red tube shaving cream is well on its way and I bought 3 more tubes of Proraso green tubes this afternoon.
Now I can slow down for a while, wait for some more stuff to arrive, and enjoy what I have for a while.
Does anyone else on here think that wet shaving is addicting?

Uh yah:wink2:
The hard part is keeping it in perspective. It's just shaving, you get to do it again tomorrow...and, avoid letting the acquisition disorders get you in hot water with the rest of your family.

Yep, it's just shaving but it's enjoyable shaving. I'm keeping it in perspective. I just shaved my beard off about 9 days ago so it's fun getting stocked up on supplies. There are so many new products since I last shaved with a DE razor. Stuff I never knew about 20 years ago.

Found two razors at a store today. The Aristocrat's gold plating isn't in very good shape, but the slim adjustable is in new condition with case.

Got really lucky ....it needed very little cleaning and polishing.
......along with the 10-pack of Feathers from Cotton Blossom.
This other was a gift from my father-in-law....it belonged to his dad, who is still alive at 102. He thinks my new hobby is pretty cool (unlike his daughter  ) and brought this over Tuesday. I love the last line of the manual.

Took advantage of Jim's surplus of Col. Conk soaps (hooray Bay Rum and Amber) over at Vintage Blades and noticed he was closing out the TOBS travel brushes for cheap. I grabbed one of those, too, since I do a fair amount of travel and could use a more portable kit.
Haven't tried any of it out yet, but I head to Buffalo, NY this weekend, so I'm sure it will all get a good trial.
So far I think SSAD is the only AD I've developed. I'll be in trouble once I get out of the grad school thing and start pulling a real paycheck.

Been to town today and tried to buy some Tam Dao but no more left! So the really pretty girl in the shop gave to me a sample (only 2ml:crying: ) but well, It's better than nothing. Tam Dao should be in the shop in 2 weeks time.
In the same street, there is a shop who sells L'Occitane (full range) and some Tadé soaps and alum stones. But you know what : I didn't buy anything (not yet) because I'm going to go to Brussels tomorrow and there, there is a shop called senteurs d'ailleurs with : Diptyque, Trumper, Penhaligon's, Creed, Acqua di Parma + shaving soaps and Shaving cream!!! What a dream....
These just Came from Em's Place Fast and Perfectly Packed as always, Thanks Emily

I think I am suffering from the onset of AD. I found two old razors at an antique store, a 1961 Gillette TTO/Tech and a Shick from the late 30's, earlier 40's. It has a Bakelite handle and a brass head. Both were well encrusted with dried gunk, but for $5.00 each how can I wrong?
I brought them home and soaked them in some Simple Green for about 3 hours. The gunk melted off. Gave each a quick brushing with the Simple Green and soft toothbrush, scraped off the green tarnish from the nooks and crannies, sanitized with Lysol and I had two fine razors.
The Gillette is excellent. A little brass shows through chrome platting, but I consider it a patina of sorts, an indication of its history. Smooth shaves and no irritation once I had the right setting. I tried the Shick and I learned I have a way to go on my technique. Man that is one aggressive razor. But it sure looks nice.
No pictures, sadly
Heading to San Antonio this weekend and plan to hit some more antique stores in search of hidden gems.

Branching Out: Almost MINT Blade Drug Store Displays 1 completely Full, 1 90+% Full WITH original boxes they shipped in. An Old 1899 Star Safety Razor Tin, and of course The Gold Aristocrat.
Just picked up my Vision from the mailbox after reading this thread, I've been stalking the mailbox for the past 2 days in hopes of getting the Vision and it came today :001_smile, thanks Emily great service!
EDIT:I regret this purchase, I was one of the lucky winners of the crappy Merkur razor contest! My vision has uneven blade exposure that will help shave my skin off like never before!

Here are a few pics of some of my recent acquistions (not pictured are CT Lemon and Cedar Shave Cream and ASB):
A new writing journal from SWMBO as well as a Gillette Milord
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=6474
The journal and Milord as well as a new WoodWick candle (fragerance is Redwood). As the name implies, the wick is made of wood and makes a crackling sound much like a real fire...very nice for a relaxing shave in the evening

Todd,
Please, more details on the journal!
Randy
Randy,
The journal was a Valentine's gift from my wife, given this past weekend as she has been out of town working for the past month. I only mentioned to my wife that I'd like a nice journal to write in and this is what she got...exactly the journal I had been looking at. She must have done some looking back into the internet explorer history to find it as she swears she spoke to none of my family about it...what a great wife!
In regards to the specifics of the journal, it is the "large" writing journal from renaissance-art.com. It has the wrap closure, lined pages, my name stamped into the leather on the front, and a custom title page created by my beautiful wife. Personally, I wanted the wrap closure as it offers extra protection of the open end of the book whereas the strap closure does not. The book's construction looks to be first rate and I expect it to last a lifetime. Apparently, it was shipped within 24 hours as is advertised for most of their products.
I have not yet taken my Pelikan 400 and Noodlers Legal Lapis to the hand torn pages of this immaculately constructed piece of work, but I cannot wait for tomorrow morning to come (I am at work and on call all of tonight). The description from the website states that this paper is fantastic for fountain pens, light watercolor washes, pencil, and pastels. This book, for example, seems to remind me of scenes from The Lord of the Rings where ancient writings were kept in beautifully constructed bindings for thousands of years. Hopefully, my writings in this book will be worth re-reading many years for now...maybe as a daily journal or as a creative writing piece.
Later,
Todd

Christmas arrived a bit late for me this year, but it has finally arrived. These are products from a wish list that I have been building for some time now. A couple of the items are new to the list, and a handful of them have been on the list for 8+ months. All of the items have been thoroughly researched (minus the Azzaro EDT's) so I don't anticipate being anything besides thrilled with each one.
Complementary Alum Block
QED DaVinci Water
Merkur LH Razor
QED French Green Clay
Complementary 5-pack of Derby's
Salter's Sandalwood
Salter's Citrus
Salter's Mint
Salter's Vetiver
QED B&B Shave Soap
Tabac Soap
Tabac Cologne
Castle Forbes Lime
Azzaro Vetiver EDT
Azzaro Lavender EDT
and when my B&B Brush & Razor arrive...it will be time to order something else!
