Hi all! My name is.. Jody (the male version).
Just dropping by to say "hi".
Like most folks, I got tired of the "New! 27-blades!" cartridge razors and the money that goes along with them. I made my way over to wet shaving and hate myself for not doing it sooner!
I'm making use of a 1975 blue Lady Gillette (of course, it's because of the long handle!) matched with Proraso Aloe + Green Tea Shaving Soap (the white cup, not the green cup), Astra Superior Platinum blades and a Tweezerman badger hair brush - and I love this combination. Been using this setup since I started wet shaving - going on 2 months now. Not a single nick/cut/weeper and only had a few bumps during the first week. So now, I'm getting perfect baby smooth shaves - no cuts and no bumps. When I'm done shaving, I follow up with an application of Nivea For Men No Alcohol Sensitive Aftershave Balm. Love it.
I've also recently started using my Lady G to shave my head. That's a very slow process of course. Right now I use the Lady G to shave the front top part and sides that I can see and use a disposable on the back. As I get more comfortable using the safety razor on the head, I'll eventually go to using it only.
Now I'm on the lookout for a 1973 Gillette black adjustable, specifically date code T-4 (birthday, sentimental). One thing I'm not sure of and maybe some of you can tell me, is if the T-4 is the long handle black adjustable or the short handle black adjustable. I'm afraid if it's the short handle, I'll stop looking for it because I've got big hands and having tried using the Super Speeds, I don't like the short handle razors. Hence why I love the Lady G I'm using.
Anyway, hello all! :001_smile
