For the first time in many decades I got a tooth pulled last night. I knew I had a problem, but I hoped it could be saved somehow. Now, its gone, and left behind a lot of pain, a deep hole full of clotted blood and a swollen cheek. Careful shaving today, no shave stick for me and no face lathering today, guess its a cream day.
One tip I can give now: if you expect to have a tooth pulled, eat before you go to the dentist. I ran there after work and was already hungry when I got there. Now, I am starving but cannot imagine how and what to eat.

You have my sympathies.
Whiskey helps, atleast on a short term

Sorry to hear about that. Tooth aches are just horrible! :bored:
I wish you a speedy recovery! :001_smile

Yikes. Tooth troubles are certainly not much fun. Had a root canal last year and didn't enjoy it one bit (though it was better than the toothaches I was having before I had it done). Wishing you a speedy recovery. :thumbup1:

Here's to a quick return to full form!
Sorry to hear of it. Tooth trouble is a cruel kind of badness.

Sorry to hear you're so uncomfortable.

You can eat, but your mouth will be sensitive to temperature, and you don't want to overwork a sore jaw. Maybe try soft foods like scrambled eggs, pasta cut up in small bites that doesn't require a lot of chewing, tuna salad. Foods that will kind of just slide down.

Hope you're feeling better real soon!

Been there too and it's no fun by a long shot.
Learn to use the blender & straw, and admire your new beard growth over the next few days. Keep telling yourself it's only temporary.
Do a lot of saltwater mouth rinses too throughout the day, it helps.

Hope you will get better quick! I had the same thing as I have too many teeth... Dentist pulled out my wisdom teeth as they were going everywhere and one was cracked. I now have 4 new teeth replacing the wisdom... It's quite interesting but not fun!

You have my sympathies.

Two years ago I had three wisdom teeth pulled. It hurt A LOT, to say the least.

I hope that you get better soon. I know that this sounds bad but what about a soup you can drink for nibbles? :( Did you get some RX drugs for pain?

I've had numerous toothaches in my life. They all sucked. Some had me crawling on the floor in tears. Literally. When you feel as if taking a blade and cutting everything out would help you feel better, that's pain.

Only one pain I've found worse. Gallbladder.

I hate the dentist. I went on a long strike from going to the dentist after having my wisdom teeth cut out. :thumbdown It was a great diet but I did not need one then.

I've had my teeth bashed in playing rugby a number of times...I highly recommend not doing it!

Rudy, I feel for you. +1 for scrambled eggs and pasta!
Hopefully you don't have someone like my Grandmother around who is going to make you gargle with salt water!

Get well!

Well, now after the day is nearly over, I must say it was not that bad!! I rinsed several times with salt water as advised by the dentist, ate soft food and I am doing very well. Looks like my wife is right, I am a good healer. I am very, very tired as I slept only a few hours total sitting up in bed. Hardly any pain - only where the shots went in. But I took a painkiller last night as a sleep aid. Thanks for all your good thoughts and idea, it helped!!

So, this means you'll be able to come to Rutt's Hutt for the Jersey Meet Up on Sunday at 1:30? :thumbup1:

Glad to hear you're feeling better.

With the weekend here, maybe you can catch a few extra winks to get your sleep pattern back on track and I'm sure you'll feel 100% before you know it.

I feel for you, glad your feeling better. I've had a couple go arounds with kidney stones and that was childs play compared to the infected root canal that I had earlier this year. Never before have I writhed in pain as I did with that. :thumbdown
