I'll be the first to admit I have a problem in buying expensive soaps and aftershaves. But I received an order of Mediterranean Citrus and Savory Rose along with a sample of Blue Line Menthol aftershaves and also a sample of soap. Oh wow...that MC is so gooooood! I mean, I'd pay another $20 more a bottle good. I can't wait to try a few more of them. Very top notch stuff, I just wish there was a little more bite to it but oh well.

The soap is only a sample but also....outstanding lather and can't wait to give it a weeks work to get a feel of it. But I'll let you in on a little secret......results look good.

Another order coming shortly.:thumbup1:

SCS is my favorite boutique soapmaker. Excellent product for the price.

I forgot to mention that her milks are outstanding. I have used DR Harris Milk for 6 years and her milk is comparable at a fraction of the cost.

I've been contemplating putting in an order to SCS after reading so many rave reviews of the Med. Citrus and the Bay Rum w/ a Twist. So tempting, but I always chicken out at the checkout screen.

I was the same way but I think it was because normally when I check out I see "you qualified for free shipping" your total $200 please. And $25 bucks I was balking because of the price with SCS WTH:blink:. I'll always have a special place for my Alt-Innsbruck and Camaldoli but this is so well made. The soap so far is definitely surpassing the boutique soaps I've had and have.

For $20 or so, I got 5-6 samples. And 1/2 ounce is actually quite a bit of product. It's a good deal.... pull the trigger and get it.

I just got the Gentlemans Best Shave soap that Sue makes. man is it fantastic. It's probably #1 in my book, I was very impressed. I just picked up the AS Splash and Milk off the BST too, I cant wait to try those with it.

I had a SCS cream I think it was Oak moss lavendula, I didnt like how it performed for me. Their soaps are a whole different animal.

FWIW SCS has generous sample sizes in the splashes and milks. You can really take your time to try one out before committing to a full-size bottle and they make excellent travel bottles afterward.

Yes, Saint Sue's soaps are amazing. I own the coconut and the rose and they are soooooo creamy when lathered!
Sue's soaps and Coleen's soaps at The Gentlemens Quarter are my favorite, bar none. Slappin' some lime aftershave like Booster's after a shave with Sue's coconut...heavenly, man!
As a matter of fact, i think i need to place an order...

Sues After shave splashes are the best value on the market- VERY effective and reasonable in cost-.

Sue deservedly gets a lot of credit for her great aftershaves. I have tried splashes, milks, and balms and they are all wonderful.

But the soaps are just amazing, and she doesn't seem to get quite as much press here about the soaps. IME, it takes me slightly more time to get the lather just right (compared with, say, Mama Bear) but when the lather is just right it is simply amazing. Very nice shave. Slick and cushioning, and with a great face-feel. Two thumbs up for SCS soap.

I like it very much. Pronounced menthol effect. Nice light scent that does not linger very long.

I got a few samples awhile ago from a contest. My wife didn't know what they were so tossed them when we moved. (I was quite upset) but judging how nice they smelled and how others are saying bay rum w/ a twist is good I ordered a shave stick of it and two of the aspect aftershaves (sounds like they're going to be great).

Tried the Savory Rose aftershave today. Had no idea it was mentholated.....lite but felt nice. Smells very nice......just like a rose, who would have thought. One thing I did do wrong is I put a little too much on. My wife said..."whoa, you smell like you slept in a bed of roses." I also did use Thayer's Rose with it so I'm sure that just put a little more umph to it.

"Sparingly" means sparingly:lol: I don't smell it now and it didn't clash with my Floris Elite cologne.

2nd day using SCS soap, SCS splash and my face feels fabulous. I'm sure my Red Head had a little to do with it too though

The Medetaranian Splash is awesome, a must have. I'm ordering a couple soaps, probably the New Spice and Blue Line. If only there was a lime, that would be awesome.

Of the aftershaves I've tried, my favorites are:

1) Extract of Limes aftershave MILK
2) Mediterranean Citrus AS splash
3) Extract of Limes AS splash
4) Hydro AS splash

I use the Limes milk almost every day. Seriously nice.

I wonder if Sue has ever made a Lime soap?

I also wonder if she would make you some if you asked? The soap I'm using now is called "Candy Cane," it's peppermint scented. I don't think they make it anymore, but it's awesome. Again, it can't hurt to ask Sue if you want something. I'm not sure what she can/can't do, but she's always been very accomodating.

Soaps? Pick a scent or two that you like- all the soaps are very solid performers.

Same with their aftershaves.

I am also a big fan of their EDTs.

And when you find the spot on SCS creams :001_wub:.

Hard to find better products, service or people than SCS, IMHO.

Blue Line is pretty freaking awesome. I was so paranoid it was going to smell like the "other" blue mentholated splash or freeze my face off like the Rub. Nothing like either.

Cooling comes on very slow and intensifies. Smell is sweet, nothing complex so it went well with my Trumpers Cologne today. The coolness lasts quite a while but no uncomfortable feeling. Same coolness as Camaldoli IMO but lasts longer.

All splashes have been great this week but my wife is going to have to learn to like the Savory Rose...too "wuzzy" for her. Hey she carries a gun so who am I to argue.

I might have to try some of the SCS products, well i guess in a round about way i already do as every morning i find myself ignoring all my other soaps for the Gentlemen's best sitting there waiting to give me a marvelous shave. If the rest of SCS line gives as good a performance as the GB, i am in.

My girlfriend doesn't like the floral scents on me either, says they aren't manly. That and she fell in love with the Gentlemen's best scents and i can see disappointment in her face when i come out of the bathroom smelling like anything else.

yes she did: it was called Cool Lime and came in a great stainless steel container. One of my first purchases from Saint Sue that I am only now seeing the bottom of the container.

i bet if we asked real nicely, she would consider bringing it back(I also miss her ginger lime too!)

My soaps have come and I've gotta say guys... the lather kinda sucks. While it's true that they smell good, I'd rather have TOBS or Tabac any day. Do any of you have any tips? Am I doing something wrong?

You're likely doing something wrong. I shaved with an SCS soap again this morning and it continues to blow away all my other soaps.

Here's what I do:

1. Start with a dry-ish brush. Shaken and squeezed.
2. Load it until it is heavily laden with soap.
3. Move to a bowl and begin to lather.
4. Add very small amounts of water at a time; FULLY INCORPORATE each new infusion of water before adding more. This seems to be one of the keys to a good SCS lather.
5. In my experience, these soaps require more water than most before they reach their sweet spot. Therefore, I keep adding a little bit at a time, incorporating it, and then adding more.
6. After awhile, you'll get a good-looking lather with stiff peaks. Do not shave with this lather. Add a little bit more water and continue swirling. Patience is the key.
7. It seems that even after I had what most people depict as a good lather, the extra water makes the lather increase greatly in amount and slickness. You should get a nice, shiny, rich, hydrating lather with soft peaks. Apply this to your face, wait about a minute, and shave away.

Pure shaving bliss. It takes me about 45 seconds to one minute longer to get the SCS soap to its perfect lather than any other soap I own. But that minute is well spent, because ultimately the lather is better than my other soaps.

Replace the bowl lather with a face lather and you have my routine down pat. The only time I have ever had SCS's soaps fail if when I did not load enough onto the brush. In such case, I just go back to the puck and get a bit more. I have been using the heck out of my Blue Line puck lately...nice stuff.
