Hi guys! I've somehow managed to completely miss The Darkroom...

Here are a few things I've shot recently to test out some new lenses. =)

Thanks. Just getting up to speed with my new toys. They'll get a real workout when we go to Europe in 3 weeks.

Very nice Kenneth! What new lens did you get?

Thanks Jerry. Most of that stuff (the foliage in particular) was shot with a Canon EF-S 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM. I got it mostly for the range, so I don't have to change lenses while we're in Europe.

The carved wooden face and the shoes were shot with an EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro. Gorgeous lens.

The bottom-up view of the architecture with the big M was an EF 50mm f/1.4, which I ended up returning because it had awful fringing at anything below f/4, and wasn't even as good as the kit lens that came with my XTi in some cases. I think I hit a bad batch actually, as I tried 3 different ones, on 3 different grades of body. :thumbdown

That sucks about the 50mm 1.4! I have one and it's an absolute stunner as far as sharpenss is concerned. It on my D20 makes a great portrait lens since with the 1.6 sensor factor, it's equivalent to an 80mm 1.4 lens! I have the 85mm 1.8 which is another wonderfully sharp prime.

The 17-85 should make a great travel lens. Let's see some pix after your trip!!

Thanks Iceman. My wife and I have lived in SF for a little over 7 years now. I shot all this stuff on the way to Muni and such. Lots of photo opportunities here.

That's the crazy part. Lots of people say it's the best lens they have. But some people say it's the worst they've ever tried. I think the copy variation on those swings really widely.

Oh you know it.
