I am very curious to try the CF balm, but I have heard high praise of the SCS offerings. I would like some input on the efficacy of these two head to head. My real interest lies with the Lavender scents so if you have used this scent in both I welcome your opinion.

I have used only a sample of CF Lavender balm, over a year ago. I did have the Cedar/Sandalwood balm, and I didn't like it. It had some sour scent that I could not deal with. Cannot recall if I had the same smell (sour) with the Lavender.
I love SCS Bulgarian Lavender after shave balm/milk - I am on my second bottle right now. I would recommend Sue's balms or milks wholeheartedly - the Rose and the Damask Rose are both very nice, too.

Much more reasonably priced as well...

I haven't tried the SCS, but I just got the CF Lime Balm and its amazing! Used my Trumper's lime skin food as a preshave, CF Lime cream, Thayer's Lemon witch hazel, and CF Lime Balm to finish! Very limey! :)

SCS is way better and cost effective. The castle forbes is an aloe gel based and less balmy/milky. I find I don't like any gel based aftershave including Nancy Boy, Trumper Skin Food, Castle Forbes, Lucky Tiger, etc. They leave an uncomfortable white film and cause dryness. The only good thing about it is the smell because they use real EO's.

+1. I decided I don't like gels, either.

I have tried several of Saint Sue's aftershaves and they are all just superb. Price is right, too.

Sue's stuff is great, and is a bargain for what you get. I find it a little too thick for my taste so I cut it with a little Thayer's to the consistency of MB's AS milk. A bottle goes a looong way.

You must be talking about her balms. Her milks are not thick at all. The consistency is similar to a splash, but the liquid is opaque.
