So far a really great Valentine's. I got soemthing special for my wife--not just the flower or chocolate thing and she wanted to do that too.

I have been oogling the IWC Spitfire for the longest time--it is a great watch by every standard but a bit more (about 3 large) than I wanted to pay.

Then I saw this watch--it appeals to me very much like the IWC--it's even a bit more plain which I like. It does not have an in house movement like IWC but it uses a top of the like ETA movement and is specially oiled by Sinn before being put into the watch. The watch is a Sinn 656--I wanted a strap rather than bracelet for this one although the bracelet is pretty too IMO.

I have a thin wrist so this watch fits well. The trend of course is to larger and larger watches--not 44 mm to 50 mm is more common. This watch is 38.5 mm so it it regular sized (not 33 or 35 mm whcih would be midsize) but it looks just right on me--again with the style being the larger watches. The band is available as a short and was installed by the dealer so it fits perfectly.

It goes great with one of my favorite pen sets--the Lamy 2000--which silly enough is important to me.

What do you think?

That is a beautiful watch! Congrats! My next watch will be similar (can't wear a Monster everyday...). I am looking at watches with a clean face and lines like the Nomos Tangente or the Stowa Antea which I am really leaning toward.

I also agree that simple is beautiful. Easy to wear with a suit and not look clunky like Clinton's rubber-strapped band did, but also can wear with jeans.

I have a Sinn and can attest to their quality. Excellent watches for the dollar. Nice choice, enjoy your watch. Bradley

These are beautiful Bauhaus inspired designs.

Of those two I myself am partial to the Stowa as well largely because of the more classic second hand. Out of curiosity have you check out the Limes line of watches--they have some similar design ideas.

p.s. Thanks all for the compliments on the watch.

My thoughts exactly. There is just something classy about watch that is simplistic in design with clean, sharp lines. My last purchase was one of nearly identical appearance, and I love it. It has quickly become my go-to watch.

The Sinn 656 is my favorite watch. I've wanted one for years. I like it much better than my Rolex Explorer II which costs 3 times as much. As others have said, it has a classic dial with nothing superfluous. In fact I like it better than the more expensive Sinns, even if I could get them for the same price.

One of these days I'll get around to selling the Rolex. After wanting one for years, I ordered a 656 yesterday.
