As the shoeshine boy, see alot of things in the barbershop and it just dawned on me that some of you might like some real "barber shop green stripe towels"....
now these ain't used...but brand new...the only catch would be, I have to buy 150 at a time....:w00t: ...
these are the regulation size flat herringbone weave...100 %cotton...leaves no fuzz on your face...
I got my pencil out and did some math...and the way I figured...
6 towels for $10 + shipping or 12 (that's a dozen) for 15 + shipping...
you could have your very own towels :001_rolle and have one for each day of the week (if you buy 12)...
I know someone may say, "this should be in the shopping forum" well maybe it should, "but I" want to keep it in the barbershop and real close to the shoeshine stand so I can keep an eye on it.
If we get enought takers, I might buy a box, but if I don't, well I will go back to shining shoes and crackin jokes...
best regards,
Mark the shoeshine boy
I hate it when someone calls me "BUTT EYE" makes me real self conscience about myself...the next time someone says this, you'll start grinning, but don't laugh out loud, folks will make you think you're crazy...

Hey Mark (BUTT EYE- Zat mean you got a crappy outlook?)!
You got twelve days to the week where you are?

Ron,
I could sell you seven for the same price, or take the twelve and have a day to two to wash them....
Sometimes I am in a bad disposition when I sleep, so rolling over usually helps...

Mark,
Have you tried the towels from Classic. I picked up a couple and have been disappointed with them. They don't hold their shape very well. Regardless, you can count me in for 12!

Nope, just pointing out that they're there. How are these towels different? And will they have a ruler imprinted on them (sorry, Joel will get the joke)? :blushing:

Randy,
I have a towel from Ray also. Any towel that is this thin will not keep a great shape. In my barber's bin, you will see several dozen. He takes them out immediatley out of the dryer when cleaned, but I believe as you use them more, they tend to become softer. Then they start to look better.
These towels are 13" by 24"...Classic shaving is slightly larger....
This is just an idea I came up with. Let me know if you guys arereally interested or not.
Thanks,
Mark the shoeshine boy....

They're really not different...just a plain flat herringbone green stripe 100% cotton towel....something to wipe your face or razor with. These type of towels do not produce any lint.
Just an idea ifor a detail in your shaving routine.

I would be interested in 12. Actually, most contractors have twelve days in whatever week they promised me to be done.
Please keep me advised as to status.

Mark,
What if you made it 14 vs 12, allowing for 2 per day? I'm in either way.

befroe I buy a box of these things, I want to make sure they are the right kind. However the person, was sick over the weekend, so we didn't get together yet.
I would hate to buy a huge box of the wrong things.
Be patient.....that's what I keep telling myself.

See if you can get a size of the towels...I may have found a better price, but not sure if it is a better deal.

Hello Mark,
Thanks for taking the initiative to get this towel project off the ground. When you get a chance, could you post as to who ordered how many towels? Then give us a final price when you are rwady.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Richard
While surfing the web I came across this barber shop supply house:
http://norvabarbersupply.com/paper_products_neck_strips.php
They offer a dozen blue stripe huck towels for $8.75 or for $14.75 you can pick up a dozen terry/face towels. The huck towels are 15x26, no size is given for the terry towels.
They also have an extensive line of Pinaud and Luck Tiger products.
You can also pick up a barber pole to hang outside your shave den or since it is not possible to shave all day long the second best thing might be to just sit in your own barber chair mounted in front of the TV. Would that be too extreme?
Ron
Hey Ron,
Welcom to B&B.

Probably only appropriate if you get a matching set. By the way, cool website that you've linked us to.

i promise that i will persue this towel thing this week....i didn't have anytime to walk away from work this week..
however if you buy a dozen towel from the above link that would be about 15 or 16 bucks total with shipping...let me try and see if my supplier has the right towels...i hope so...
if not then let's persue another route and try to save a buck or two...nonetheless, there is nothing better than a herringbone towel that does not leave the lint on your face when you go to dry off. The closest towel I have bought is a cheap utility towel from wal-mart, but they are smaller in size.
I have been searching for a year now and I may have gotten too excited when my cleaning supplier said that she had them.
I will keep you posted...

well the supplier that kept on saying that she had the towels, turned out to be a paper wiper instead of cloth.
I will be persuing this project again this week.
Here is what I do know. The green stripe towels are the heaviest one of the others colors that you will see. red, blue.
Let me get freed from double duty today from work and I will check back into these things.
Forgive me for being so slow, but work has kept me very busy and then some.

FYI, on our 120 mile trip to Costco last week, we picked up some Martex hand towels and washcloths. Twelve towels for $13.99 and EIGHTEEN washcloths for $9.99. Washed them in Nancy Boy Lavender Laundry Soap when we got them home.
Thery're wonderful -- incredibly soft and very little lint. Feel good against my face, before, during and after my shave!
4 Stars!!

I'm down for a dozen if somebody buys them.
edit - i might just buy a couple dozen from that retailer if they'll let me. they also have 4 dozen for $24.99 (starting bid). that's a lot for one person, though. I'll split 4 dozen of them with someone, as long as we get the blue striped ones. It'd prob. be about $18 a person for two dozen, including shipping two ways.

im in aswell for 2 dozen.. so I can have spares and use the others as handtowels.
These are used for wiping the face after the shave right? now as hot towels. I never use the hot towel technique simply take a long hot shower.
