I've been thinking about trying to shave with only my KOS Shave Oil, is this a good idea? I've shaved DE about 7 times now with lather and I find it hard to figure out the grain (my neck is a mess when it comes to growth direction) so I figured it would be easier to figure out if I could see exactly what I was cutting. Any opinions?

Also, if I go through with it, do I have to re-oil every pass? I don't know how guys use 2-3 drops of this stuff for shaving, I use that amount as a preshave and my face still feels decently dry.

I think there's two parts to this.

Growth direction -> If you can't find it right away, don't shave for 2-3 days and it should be easier to find. I think I spent 20 minutes in front of the mirror rubbing my face to understand it. By knowing that you have a few whiskers going up here and going down there, it should be easier to shave next time.

Shaving oil -> Yes you can shave with only shaving oil. I think you might need more than 3 drops to do that. Olive oil works well too. You will need to re-oil between passes otherwise you won't have enough glide...

I have tried this when i was using a cartridge razor and actually found it was ok, the thing i did not like was that i found the oil clogged the razor a fair bit and i had to keep banging the razor against the sink to unclog it, i tried a few oils and not any really stood out from each other so i cant reccomend a good one, but it did leave my face nice and soft after the shave, nowadays i just use a pre shave oil.

For my first and second passes I use shaving cream. For the remaining passes I use oil. The oil greatly reduces irritation and cuts. Highly recommended.

There's also several choices of oils to use. The main factors to consider is skin type and oil weight. Some oils are too thick, absorb too quickly or don't absorb enough, and some offer better lubricity. I find mineral oil to be the best for me (mine has aloe and Vitamin E and unscented). Makes sense too: if you truly want that BBS shave...think baby oil.

I've found Pacific Shave Oil has really help the quality of my shaves. It can be purchased at many places, and is rather cheap (~$7).

Was that shaving with oil only or as a preshave?

For me that was pre-shave, but I can also make multiple passes in the same spot without needing to re-lather.
