I'm expecting a couple of TGN knots ( 20mm Silvertip and 20mm UK Silvertip ) in this week to restore my Mammoth Ivory Brush. I've been obsessing over the knots, the density and the lofts since I ordered them.
The knots are being shipped to work ( standard SWMBO avoidance technique ), so tonight I've put together a restore kit so I can work on it as soon as the knots arrived at work.
Contained in the kit,
O-rings so I can test/compare loft and density without setting into the handle
Knife in case I need to widen the knot hole
Various grade abrasives to widen/smooth the knot hole
Various thickness of cork tile to give me loft options.
Two part epoxy.
HELP !!! They'd better arrive this week !!! :biggrin1:

I feel your pain! Have restored about 10.....have three coming this week....have another 6-8 in the display case I'm considering. I always take them to work (better tools) and my wife just shakes her head! I am quite obsessed. Just when I think I'm done.......

No tools at work as I work in an office environment.
Luckily I have my own office. I can close the door....the only give away...the smell of two part epoxy in the morning :biggrin1:

Woohoo....
Knots arrived. I've made the choice and the epoxy is drying :biggrin1:
Productivity this morning.........ummmmmm ... high , just not work related :001_tt2:
20mm UK Super @ approx 43-44mm loft
Looks a bit "pimple on a pumpkin " at the moment, but think (hope!?!) the bloom will make a huge difference
I think my pics post bloom in the Butterscotch and Restore thread will be my last ( well no promises, and I do have a left over knot and ....... )
