Here's my catch from the first time out scrounging for razors....

From researching old posts last night after cleaning them all up, it looks like I have:
1. a '62 Slim Adj. (H4),
2. a Super Speed w/no code (late 40's-early 50's??),
3. a "53 Super Speed (Y4),
4. & 5. pair of '55 & '61 Super Speeds (A4 & G2),
6. a gold Tech,
7. and an old NEW from the 30's (?) I guess.

I don't see any numbers on the Tech; were they even numbered? How old could it be?
Were the NEW's made of copper?? The top sure looks like copper.

My wife thinks I've lost my mind, but at least it's a cheap hobby (for now).

Appreciate any help on the ID's, history, or anything else anyone cares to add.

Groundhog, That is a SUPERB haul of quality shaving equipment. Well done Sir!

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Thanks. I was pretty pleased.
I'm embarrassed to say I ruined a gold Schick Injector. The lady I bought the adjustable from threw it in for nothing. I didn't really know anything about them, but I took it anyway. I threw it in the boiling water with 2 of the Super Speeds and ruined the handle.:frown:

I also got some sort of 3 pc. DE that I have no clue what it is. When I get it cleaned up I'll post a pic and see if anybody has an idea.

I recently snagged this razor. It's a predecessor to the modern Feather Professional Artist Club and is made of 18-8 stainless steel. I wrote to Feather about it and was informed that it's a Professional Razor SS, manufactured between 1977 and 1999.

Gillette Ranger Tech.

Ahh...Ok, thanks Ben.
After I got them home and started cleaning them up, I was researching here for info and pictures as well as the Geocities site linked here somewhere to try and identify and date the razors. I wish I hadn't ruined the Injector by boiling the bakelite handle.

So was the Ranger razor made only in 1941? If so, this things in pretty good shape for a 66 year old razor.

BTW, that Feather is sweet!

Nice looking 1968 Gillette Knack Keeping this in the personal collection for now it is mint and I am looking forward to trying it it has a unique balance to it and with the longer handle I think it should make for and interesting shave.

I agree -- I can't wait for it to arrive!

The Ranger Tech was only made for one year, and I believe you're right about 1941. I owned one for a little while, but yours is in much better condition. Enjoy it!

My above mentioned 40's SS arrived. The eBay picture was fuzzy, but it paid off to take a gamble on it. It's a 3rd quarter '52 in great shape. The case is completely intact and functional, but the cover is "hazed" due to stress fractures in the plastic. Happy camper here.

I went antiquing! Score!! I was wondering when I'd finally find something lying around these crusty old antique shops in Denver... I found a slim, a 1955 gillette, a schick TTO (Krona??) and a superspeed with no date code... all are in pretty good condition, and sparkle in the sun!

The slim and SS came with their cases, and the Schick has a metal TTO knob... the kronas I've seen on the 'bay have plastic knobs... is this another model?

And, am I correct in thinking the second Gillette to be a silver version of the Aristocrat? Is this the elusive President, that someone was careless enough to leave laying around on an antique store shelf? At any rate, I love it - it's heavy, and competes with my adjustable in the morning ritual

I can't believe how you all have started me on RAD... for shame!

I bought three tubes of Proraso Green and three little pots of Proraso pre-shave cream at Target today, this after several weeks of not finding any Proraso products on the shelves. I almost bought the Omega brush, too, but the chrome-colored plastic handle felt incredibly cheap.

Vintage Geneva Pyramid Razor -- it will take my budding restoration skills to revive this one.

From Mama Bear:

Rosemary Mint SS
Dragon's Blood SS
Joe's Trade Wind SS
Issy 100% Olive Oil Soap
Muller's Lane 100% Coconut Soap

The soaps all smell wonderful. I had heard that the Dragon's Blood SS smelled of church incense. Oh, it smells like incense alright -- but the kind that I used to smell in head shops around Berkeley. Not that that's a bad thing at all.

A few new Gillettes today including a 1960 fatboy. Total cost for all 5 razors.....$12.50!

Not exactly sure what the bottom left razor is. Anyone know for sure? It's a 3 piece razor and it's a sizeable razor as you can tell by the fatboy. No date on the bottom.....just patent numbers (as is the case with the other 2 piece razors)

Nice acquistions Jerry. My guess on the bottom left: "This Gillette safety razor was introduced in 1941, but had a short production period because of the US involvment in WW II. The razor has no blade notch to pull the blade from the blade dispenser. It has a smooth 1/4" ban around the bottom of the TTO handle." Gillette Tech Ranger?

Nice haul Jerry. Very similar to mine on pg. 1 of this thread (similar $ outlay too:wink: ). They all look to be in great shape.

I don't know what that big fella is. If you look at my stuff on p. 1, #2 in the first picture is a Ranger Tech, according to Ben. It's a TTO, and you said your's is a 3 pc. Does it take a 3-hole glade or a slotted blade?
You might check here.

If you don't find out, pm AntiqueHoosier. He'll probably know.

The large razor is not a TTO but a 3 piece. It's also not a 3-holer, but just has the center post that screws into the handle and small tabs on the inside of the head to hold the blade in place. Stumped me. It's the only one I've ever seen like it.
