has anybody tried the l'oreal for men line? i keep seeing it everywhere and can't help but wonder if the stuff is any good. i read a couple reviews online about people saying it's really good, but i don't know how much i trust random people, as opposed to people from B&B

i just finished using the moisturiser, and tbh i didn't really like it. Not quite sure of what was in it, but it stung quite uncomfortably if i used it post shave... Perhaps it is the perfume in the product? I ended up only using the moisturiser in instances where i hadn't shaved in a long while beforehand. It was very good, however in giving a matte, oil-free appearance. I can't speak for the rest of the product line though.

Good luck with it, whatever you end up doing :)

I started using the moisturizer for anti-lines (w/ SPF). I actally think it works. It is a nice moisturizer that lasts ALL day. Face never gets dry throughout the day. But, I have noticed that it does leave a shiny type of effect...not greasy per se, but shiny. Not sure if I really like that but I wanted to try the line because it is all over and is being marketed pretty well.

Bottom line, I was able to get it pretty cheap (relatively) for about 5 bucks and wanted to try it. So far it has met and slightly exceeded my expectations. Haven't seen the total effect of the anti lines yet, but we will see.

I bought L'Oreal step 3 skin relief moisturzer and it is complete garbage!
You put it on some dry skin and it makes the skin drier.
Stay away from this stuff. I usually don't buy my products from the grocery store so its my own fault.

I sometime use their products (i like 24 H moisturizing gel and hydra energetic gel) and I think the quality is very nice.

i have the hydra power mosturizer and its alright. it seems to work for me some days, and not so much some days. on the days it doesnt, i feel the need to reapply it after a few hours. it smells great (kinda like armani mania but the scent wears off in a few mins), absorbs quickly, and leaves a matte finish. overall its a pretty good value for $6.

thanks for the replies guys! guess i won't be trying it after all. since the choices are pretty limited here, i had to see if something on the cheap side might be worthwhile.

i use nivea soft, for on the cheap side thrills!
it comes in a 200mL tub for around the same price as the loreal for me 50mL tube. again for around the same price i picked up some pure aloe vera gel (340mL). The aloe is great as an asb.

I don't trust anything being made from a global multi-billion-corporation. I stick with small and/or family-owned companies that live off the quality of their products and not by people buying their stuff because it's cheap and constantly in the ads.
So no, I haven't tried anything from l'oreal and I also won't in the future.

I would normally totally agree with you guys. And this has been emphasized to me more over the last month or so...but I must say the new Stop-Lines Loreal (for those around 30 or so) is an excellent product.

I noticed it does keep the face moisturized the entire day. Even after a shower and a work out. I do not need to reapply when I have in the past with others.

Other moisturizers may be much better...and they probably are, but for a cheaper solution, I think this particular product (at least for me) works great. The rest of the line I could not comment on because I haven't tried it.

As a disclaimer, I have also started using jojoba oil (rafikz helped) at night and this may also be contributing to the softer, better "face quality" I am getting.

i agree that i'd rather stick with quality products from smaller companies and i would if i could. the problem is that in my neck of the woods, there are no such things. everything is about the big multi-billion corporations. heck, i found a couple l'occitane shops, but they did not carry the shaving stuff at all. i asked if they could special order and no dice! so i have to make do with what i can :frown: that and wait for a friend to be coming over from the states so i can splurge some

oh, that's a pity, I feel with you. What about mail order from the US or good ol' Europe?

i would but i simply do not trust the chinese mailing system. it's pretty bad and i have had things get lost numerous times before, not to mention customs literally tearing open my packages/letters and barely making an effort to cover it up :frown: who knows... i'll probably order something one day just to see if i can actually get it

Oh, now that REALLY sucks. Makes me think twice about just moaning when getting stung by our customs...
I wish you luck for the future :thumbup1:

L'Oreal for men makes an anti-irritation ASB. I used it today, and my face felt warm for a few minutes (could have been the feather blade), but is so soft hours later.

I occasionally use their VitaLift SPF15 facial moisturizer. It performs well, but I dislike their added fragrance to the lotion when I want to wear cologne after. If you want to use your own aftershave and/or cologne, their facial lotions might not be for you.

The only L'OREAL product that I use is their ELVIVE for men 'Body Building Thickening Hair Shampoo'. I have used this for over 5 years and IT WORKS!.I started to get a receeding hairline, this product slowed it down dramatically, I will swear by it and SWMBO agree's (so it must be true:001_tongu )

I think the L'oreal Men's Expert line is the best of the mass market drug store lines. Even though I have several higher end face washes, I still use the L'oreal Power Clean Face Wash quite a bit. It's kinda like Kiehl's Facial Fuel Wash - a nice menthol feeling. I also like the Vita Lift with SPF Moisterizer for the summer months. It's true that it is scented, but I find the smell pleasant and light. I doubt it is even detectable under cologne.

I've used the L'oreal Hydra Energetic moisturizer cream. That was OK, but not as great as Nivea's counterpart (like many here do). Also, before I bought proper lather, I tried the Anti-Irritation shaving foam - not recommendable. That goo gave me more razor burns than Gillette's foams!

I think the people at L'oreal do a great marketing job (You're worth it too), but they do not necessarily have the best products. But I never told you that (my friend used to work there! :)...

My best tip is to figure out your skin type and learn through trial and error - just like shaving!

I second to this, exactly the same happened to me.
