I was curious, so I took some photos.
The first two are of a GEM blade used 8 times. The "stuff" show in the 2nd photo is not rust - it's simply accumulated shave residue and detritus.
The last two are of the famous Personna 74 Blade after 22 shaves in almost a four week period.

Any conclusions to be drawn from these battle weary blades?

Looks like you got your money's worth.
I'd love to see the edge of the 74 after 22 shaves. I'm trying to get use of a microscope that can image, but so far no luck. I really need to work up an analysis of the 74 vs. 74 Plus.

Cool photos. Do you rinse your blades after each use?

I should have probably quit about two shaves prior. The 74 went downhill fast, and the Gem, did not cut whiskers well the last shave.

I would too. I don't have any friends with Microscopes though. I mean, I have eccentric friends, but not that eccentric. :tongue_sm

Oh yeah, doesn't everyone?

SRP has a good guide in the wiki to using reversed lenses for taking microscopic photos of blade edges.
