Everybody knows that Michiganlover uses VDH for his morning shave on Wednesdays (his underrated/underappreciated products day).
So, what say ye? What if we made tomorrow morning "Solidarity Morning" and every wet shaver on the forum who owns a puck of VDH lathers that baby up tomorrow?
Are you in?

I would say so, the idea is that the product be Low Cost/ Value Minded, and good. :thumbup1:
I starting doing "Low Cost and Under-appreciated Wednesdays" for several reasons:
1) It was meant to be a constant reminder that my shaves don't have to be expensive to be top quality. It's too easy in this hobby to get caught up in chasing after the most expensive, most high end products: it's good to remind yourself that you can get excellent quality shaves with budget minded products.
2) My very first Wet Shaves were with a well worn Gillette Ball End Tech (that was PIFed to me), VDH Deluxe, and a VDH Boar brush. Wednesday is a change to reminisce about my beginnings.
3) The Gillette Tech has a reputation as a "starter razor", that is too mild for a seasoned shaver. Using the Tech at least once a week, helps me to not forget just how good it really truly is!!
4) The well worn Tech mentioned above, was my first DE razor. I still have it (although it is now re-plated, and shiny), and it is the razor I shave with every Wednesday.

I can't go there. My first was a Parker 90R which is probably more useful in the kitchen to peel potatoes than to shave.

I've got not VDH, but I do have Col. Conk. I've also got some P.160 which would fit with the spirit of the day.
I'm in: P.160, Feather Popular razor fitted with a Feather Hi-Stainless (it's all that I have, and the razor was the cheapest that I could purchase when I bought my first kit), my Vulfix boar brush (cost me $8.00 :wink2:), alum and some store-brand witch hazel.
Do I count? :blushing:

So I jumped in with the following :
Feather Portable / 7 O'clock Permasharp Green / Godrej Shave Round / Cheap Indian Boar Brush and Nivea for Men After Shave (blue glass bottle) !
I would like to believe that my setup gives the cheapest per shave cost among all the other shaves on this post !! :001_rolle

Looks like a great setup!!
For anyone who might be curious: The vintage Old Spice in glass bottles shown in my picture above is not a violation of the cheap, and under appreciated ideal.
I picked up 6 bottles (plus a fancy Admiral Decanter) of vintage Old Spice Cologne/Aftershave off of E-Bay for $13.70 shipped!! That's $2.30 each! :001_tt1::001_tt1:

Palmolive stick (€0,98)
Omega boar brush (economy line < €10)
Astra blade (€0,1)
Hattric Classic AS (€5,95 for 200ml)
And it was an excellent shave! Maybe I should do this more but I fear the consequences of the AD devil.

Nice try!
I used the same Palmolive stick with a free blade and a very old inherited boar (so free too) and ended with a Chinese Florida Water (€2,35/250ml).
The soap & brush were great; the blade good for its price (but not very good) and the AS? Meh, but did the job.

Comparing local buying costs my stuff cost me 6.94$ (Shave round + 5 blades + Cheap Boar brush + AS) Considering 5 blades - each around 0.13$
Each blade lasts for around 4 shaves, the shave round around 60 shaves and the nivea splash on for a long time, and the boar retires only when I tire of it !!
And here I am talking of a middle of the line blade, don't get me started on the cheaper supermax, Wilkinson India swords and a few others !! :tongue_sm
You can tell me if this is more expensive than your set !! :001_cool:

I think I can beat this.
Boar brush £0.50 (from 'Wilkinsons' for anyone in the UK)
Palmolive stick £0.25 (Asda)
Israeli blade £0.10 (Tesco)
Cold water splash
Total £0.85, or $1.53USD
ps that brush doesn't look too appealing, I must say. But the rest of that gear is serviceable.
