Not really, but almost! I have to explain where I got interested in fountain pens, and when my answer is B&B I better be ready to defend myself :w00t:
I loved that scene in Inglorious Bastards where Hans Landa fills his pen and writes, it was creepy but almost comedic to me. And with you guys already talking about them, I think I will be getting one. Upcoming deployment will be much more "roughing it" than the last, so I will be writing almost exclusively this time. I like the idea of the button or pump fill pens, which means I get to use bottle ink as well. I like the Pelikan M215 a lot.
Anyother similar pens to recommend at that price range and fill style? Or reasons I might not have read about to avoid that style?
I can't believe how many things we have subject matter experts on here.
So?
The Pelikan is a great choice. Delta's newer version of the Dolcevita is also plunger fill with a transparent ink tank, and it is, I think, one of the most beautiful pens currently in production.

I'll be checking that out, thanks.

 That's awesome, but $600 is steep for a pen. Too bad

I've recently picked up a Pelikan m215 for a great price from a place called Pengallery, located in Singapore, I think. Before I ordered, I made sure to do my homework on the site, and the folks at www.fountainpennetwork.com gave it good reviews. The shipping was crazy fast, and the 215 is a sweet pen. I like the looks a great deal, the other "high end" brands with all the gold and marbled textures and flashiness do not fit with my personality. It writes nicely, the fill system is cool, and it seems to hold a lot of ink. I am using Diamine ink in mine for now, but may switch to Noodler's bulletproof black soon for writing in bio lab.
Good luck searching, and be sure to do your homework :wink2:

I liked that scene as well. Does any body know what type of pen was used in the movie? I'm just curious. (And too lazy to get the DVD out and try to work it out for myself.)

After searching, I found a thread on that at the fountain pen forum. They say maybe old pelikan, or even a parker considering it was in France at the time. Don't think there was a definitive answer.
I have a Pelikan pen (not that model but it is also a good pen) and I have plenty of other pens as well. I would suggest that you also check out the Lamy 2000 before you buy. It is a piston-filler with a very nice gold nib and in a classic Bauhaus design. The finish of the Lamy might be a little more durable and they really are a pleasure to write with.
