PS : I've still got to explain the unauthorised Ebay purchase of the straight razor and paddle strop to the wife. I'm gonna tell her the straight razor is a letter opener and the strop is a new door stop for the spare room, thus avoiding any link to shaving. Dunno if I'll get away with it ..what do you think ?

Face is feeling fine now, but the little angry spots are there...brooding.

Nice heated lather today with my double-boiler makeshift scuttle (inspired by Rick). I think I rushed the lather because I was excited about the warmth...felt a little dry (needed more water I guess). Still shaved fine with no nicks or irritation...the razor just kind of skipped a bit rather than that nice slide. That trafalgar smells great! Opted for no rose WH today...I think it kept the scent of the trafalgar longer that way. Didn't shave the lowest 1 inch strip on my neck to let the ingrowns/irritation heal a bit. It is weird that it is always just the lowest inch of space on my neck. Hoefully with it grown out a bit I can reassess the pattern of growth.

The French olive oil soap I got in a trade left a lot to be desired. Maybe its just my methods, but all olive oil soaps I have tried hold nothing to Mama Bear, QED etc. They just produce a fairly light, airy weak lather. Although it is fairly slick, the lather dissipates way too fast. I think this rather large brick of soap has been downgraded to the shower.

Lately, the Aqua Velva and Coral Skin food have been my go-to after shave combo. I know a lot of people knock the Coral Skin food, but I feel it does a lot of good, especially on a day like today. I really butchered myself with the crappy lather the French soap produced.

Man, I forgot how slick and moisturizing the ToOBS Avacado cream is. It was one of my first creams, and I definitely need to work it into my rotation on a more regular basis. I didn't even need an A/S balm.

The combination of the Avacado and the Nancy Boy Replenishing (cucumber) cream (used as a pre-shave prep straight on the face) yielded one of the smoothest and most irritation-free shaves to date! I knew there was a use for this new Nancy Boy cucumber cream... not too wild about the scent, but I smelled like a summer salad while shaving!

Great shave on that setting...could really hear the blade cutting the whiskers. No nicks, cuts etc. even with 3 passes - no pressure just the weight of the razor doing the cutting.

I'm not used to wearing cologne, and the smell in the morning was a bit too strong for me. Maybe I'll go lighter next time (although I only put a drop or so on each wrist).

It’s weird, I was shaving with my new crappy Feather DE and I was surprised to see I had very good results, on par with those of my Merkur. It all comes down to technique. When you’re skilled enough, any DE tool will do the job.

However, while I was doing my second pass, I thought “Oh, crap” and I took my Feather AC and achieved a near perfect shave with a blade on its 11th round.

I think my DE days are over. I don’t enjoy the “variety” DE offer me anymore. That will be something straight razors will provide from now on (well, when I receive my Tony Miller strop). No, my Sticky is not for sale. It’s the most beautiful DE ever produced and it will be a nice ornament.

The B&B Finest Ebony is what everything says about it. An incredible brush at an incredible price. I’m glad I bought the ebony version as it compliments my Sticky on the Dovo stand. The only thing that was unsatisfying is I got a “smelly” one. Ten days of use will be necessary to get rid of the foul stench.

Had such great results with the tabac yesterday I returned for another! Just as great as yesterday...I love the tabac! I guess the tallow works well for me...and the scent is great! The derby blade on it's 4th day was totally perfect...the tabac is so slick I had to recheck my blade angle to make sure the blade was actually making contact with my skin.

Love the floris vetiver! I applied very carefully today (just a little in the crook of my elbows, put it on a little earlier so it would tone down before arriving at work) and the scent is nicely present...just a little hint of it now and again but nothing overpowering. I prefer this scent to the floris 89. Tomorrow I'll try the santal edt.

OK...enough of my yappin'.

Wonderful shaver! It's the nicest one yet! This is my new favorite razor.

Lathered up with Proraso green and shaved it off with a Gillette blade from my stash of blades when Gillette sold the good one's here. I was hurriedly excited and still didn't manage to nick myself or cause a burn for my BBS.

So THAT'S why their so expensive! They're worth it.

Two nights at a new job, straight to bed in the morning to catch up on missed sleep so had a shave at 1800 following the shower.

TOBS oil + TOBS rose cream
Kent BK4 + Vision + Derby (Day 1) -- three passes
DRH Milk + T&H Spanish Leather

I'm getting to love splashing aftershave on these days. It seems to make my skin smoother, I don't understand why. It used to be a painful experience.

It was BBS when I shaved and now, 12 hours later, things are still smooth.

most students sleep as long as they can when there's an exam to take on that particular day and wear stubble in the face when they enter the room. Not me, I rather enjoy a particular long and good shave in the morning prior to driving to university. :001_tt2: It gives me not only a great feeling but also an half-hour of relaxation and pleasure instead of the nervousness

Half an hours face massage (truly wonderful experience)
A moustache trim
Hot towel
T&H Luxury shaving soap applied with one of their brushes ( a big one)
I was shaved with a Dovo straight razor
finished with T&H 1805 A/S

Whist this was going on I had a very pretty young lady give me a manicure and after she finished, a young man gave me a complimentary shoeshine!

With the tip the bill was £100, worth every damn penny!!!, I felt wonderful for the rest of the day.

Didn't get to shave yesterday so it felt quite nice to shave this AM. The Merkur was as everyone has described it: inferior. I really see what people meant when they kept complaining about it...I think I'll toss out this one and save the rest for emergencies...life is too short to force myself to go 3 more days on such a mediocre blade!

The santal EDT smells really nice, and the shave was actually OK even with the blade and the extra stubble...I did get a few weepers (which I NEVER get)...another thing I blame on the blade.

tabac, as usual, was incredible.

First time with Futur/Feather combination and it was the noisiest shave I remember having, it was also one of the best and almost BBS. I whipped the Avocado 150 times this morning which is 25 more than normal and was rewarded with a better lather than I realised I could get. I picked up the Pecksniff's sample a while back but only just around to trying it and I will purchasing a full size in the future for sure.

SOTD Rating 9.3/10 ...great shave...

Thanks. The only artificial change to the picture was flipping the image horizontally so the lettering would read left to right. The mirror polish of the brush did the rest.

Decent shave,

Merkur HD w/ Feather (1st shave)
AOS Lavender PSO
eShave White Tea SC (wow amazing)
Thayers WH
eShave White Tea ASB (pretty good)

1 nick, 2 or 3 red dots, gave my self some razor burn on my neck (kept trying for long strokes) but no redness now and face feels fine.

The eShave SC is really amazing, it lathers extremely well and I don't know if my new giant latte mug had anything to do with it but it was almost as good in terms of efficacy as the AOS Lavender, scent wise it was IMO better than the AOS Lavender. I'm really tempted to buy this right now :001_tt2:

Overall: 7/10 b/c of razor burn.

I love the Clubman Bay Rum--this quote from the "Science A Go Go" website may explain why:

18 August 1999

Fine Line Between Pleasure & Pain

"Researchers have long known that the body can activate its own form of pain relief in response to painful stimuli. Now, UC San Francisco investigators have determined that, in rats, this long-lasting relief is produced by the brain's "reward" pathway -- the neural circuitry activated by drugs of abuse. In their study, published in the August 15 issue of Journal of Neuroscience, the investigators determined that, at its maximum, the pain relief was as potent as a high dose of morphine."

The Derby blades, while not the sharpest, are mighty fine. They allow me to experiment (with minimal risk of cuts/nicks) with the settings on my Fatboy... MUCH more so than the Feathers do. I started at "3" on the Fatboy, and ended up at "7" for the final pass and T&C.

The Pinaud Bay Rum burns like a mo fo :eek2:, and then it's all like .

Nice shave today...am still loving my "traget scuttle." The lather was still so warm after 3 passes/applications. I'm starting to think that the T&H cream is not as lubricating as I might like (the last few times I thought it was my lathering technique, but they have ALL been a little "skippy" with the razor...guess I'll add a little glycerin next time and see if that helps). Good shave, though...nice and smooth with no nicks or weepers...and the Trafalgar smells so incredibly great!
