I thought of an idea. I know that the original progress knob will work with any merkur HD handle 34C/11C/37C. With this thought I realized that some of the custom progress knobs as seen below will fit into the HD series and make the razor close to size and weight that the merkur barberpole line is. Would be good for someone that wants to try their razors they have this way instead of buying new razors. Also, it very well work on a Gillette New Improved as well since it's very close in size and weight to the merkur hd series. The first picture is an Ikon and the second is a Mer(not sure he makes one without the donor progress knob). I couldn't fine a Bob long progress knob picture but I'm fairly sure he has made them.
