Well my first shave with a de razor could have gone better.

Have muhle r89 and edwin jagger best badger brush.
Unfortunately I decided to use what I assume are a bad batch of blades from a sampler for my first de shave a few days ago and it was skipping/jumping.Personna red blades(I have since noticed a thread with someone else having this problem in the razor blade section)
Being my first try I figured technique was my problem and I hadn't shaved in a few days so there was quite a bit of growth.People keep repeating technique is key and stick to basics that I didn't even think to check the hardware.

Stuck with it anyway and after letting my poor nastily razor burned neck heal a couple of days changed to a feather just in case the personna was as blunt as it felt. And it really was blunt. Had a wonderful shave in comparison with the feathers. Or at least as good as a 2nd de shave is likely to go when your a little to overzealous thanks to a previously blunt blade, thus a few nicks :)

Ill try out the others on some paper rather than my face and see if they are all that blunt.
The one I used wasn't slicing paper as cleanly as I would have liked :( My chefs knife cuts cleaner. Definitely not a good sign.

Well at least all is well now and I can build up to a point where I'm happy to go ATG. Feeling pretty great after that. Was getting a little worried for a second there.

The only other problem is that I have been using a mach 3 for years and a few weeks ago when I decided to get into de shaving I also discovered the benefits of using good product and not gillette gell from a can. That alone made a huge difference to my shaving. The AD kicked in bad. But then most here don't consider that a problem.

I now have a range of Proraso product as well as some Speick and Tobs sandalwood cream. With Kent, Goodfella and some random 100% natural vegetable oil NZ soap that comes in a pottery bowl on the way. Ive been enjoying trying out each different cream thus far.
I actually really like Proraso and even though Ive been buying more stuff to try I keep going back to it. The weather is still pretty hot here though.

Un Zud hey bro?

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you're on the right track. Technique is really important. Light touch, let the razor do the work and try and keep a consistant razor head angle. It'll get alot better in a very short time.

Welcome to B&B !

Now that we're beginning to wake up here in North America, you'll likely hear from several more of us.

I'm extremely encouraged to infer from your post that you have a strong start on MAD (Multiple Acquisition Disorders). You will fit in quite easily on this site!

Enjoy!

Hey bro, welcome to B&B.

You sound as though you're off to a great start. Keep it up...

I'd be interested to hear how the local NZ product performs. It's always good to hear of local products. Well, local enough, just across the ditch. :thumbup1:

Thanks everyone.
Jim if your passing through Mount Maunganui be sure to visit my cafe/restaurant.

Going to have to check my itinerary. Going to be in Auckland for 5 days and then going on one of the bus tours of both islands. Give me the name of your restaurant and I will definitely stop by if you are anywhere close to where I'm going to be.
