So I get a kick out of seeing old advertisements about razors and whatnot. Along these lines, apparently the magazine Popular Science has put online scanned copies from every issue going back 137 years, including the ads, and made them search-able. Among my other nerd-ish searches, I decided to look up shaving related words and have spent the entire morning avoiding work by reading old articles and looking at old print ads for razors, brushes, soaps, etc.
If y'all are interested, the search page is here:

enjoy!

I get a kick out of watching the MLB network when they have the old baseball games from the late 40's and 1950's re-broadcast. Usually, in many of the old ballparks they have the advertisements in the outfield fence's for old razors and blades. Some of the most common are for the Gem Micromatic, Gem Blades, Schick injectors and others that I don't know about. I guess shaving was a very big part of everyday life back in the day.
