I was a big fan of the Parker jotter until I had one explode on me. And I do fancy, laugh all you want, the Bic Round Stick.
Also, blue is my ink of choice

the bic is a fine, serviceable pen that will never let you down. However, ... my favorite is a Waterman Opera in which I use Aurora Blue. Yes, it's a different ballgame entirely, but, like wet-shaving, a wonderful hobby to be involved in. There are about another forty or so in my lineup, with various colors of ink. And yes, I do use ball pens (occasionally,) and gel pens, but the FP is my pen of choice, and a wonderful way to deal with life in the high-speed, computerized age.

I never go anywhere without my Fisher Bullet Pen (http://www.spacepen.com/lacqueredbrassbulletspacepenwithclip.aspx) and Moleskine notebook (http://www.moleskine.com/catalogue/classic/cahier/cardboard_kraft_cover/set_of_3_ruled_cahier_journals__kraft__pocket.php) .
It came standard with a black, medium cartridge. When that ran dry after a year, I replaced it with a blue, fine point.

Vascillates between my Parker 51 and my Pelikan Pura. My M215 with a stub nib is reserved for signatures on cards etc.
My ink color changes all the time according to the pen. I really like the "Private Reserve" brand of inks, my favorite colors are 'Chocolate', 'Orange Crush', 'Copper Burst' and 'American Blue'. And sometimes I feel very conservative and will use my Pelikan 4001 "brilliant black" or "Royal Blue". But I guess right now my favorite is "Chocolate". Right now my go to pen is my Aurora Ipsilon with American Blue ink.

I have two favorite pens. Mont Blanc 146 and the Visconti Van Gogh fountain pens. Both are comfortable and not too large.
My favorite ink is Fountain Pen Network Van Gogh Starry Night blue. It's made by Noodlers.

Would love a nicer pen but being a social worker, my pens tend to get legs from time to time. I love these:
http://images.marketplaceadvisor.channeladvisor.com/hi/73/72964/73833.jpg
Uniball Jetstream RT Good combination of price/writing quality. Nice and retractable so I don't lose a cap too. Though the regular Jetstreams are quite nice too.
Now if I could just find a relatively inexpensive pen with an indestructible clip I'd be set.
Blue is my go to color, best way to tell if I have an original document or not! :001_cool:

The Fisher is a great pen - in fact it reminds me that I need to buy a couple to replace the one of I lost (which is the problem with such a compact pen!) - great pens for travelling. You can buy the x-mark version for as low as $15 on the internet.
I'm also a big fan of the Molekine - I just found a local source that sells them below retail and plan on getting a replacement soon - I really like the small cahier models - great for the briefcase.
Would love a nicer pen but being a social worker, my pens tend to get legs from time to time. I love these:

Good reply !!!!!
My go-to pen is a Lamy 2000. As far as ink is concerned, I have quite a large selection (more than 20 bottles) and I like most colours. At the moment I am using Montblanc's Racing Green, Noodlers Lexington Grey, Noodlers Cayenne and Noodlers Black in some of my pens.

About 99% of the time, it's a grey Parker 51 Aerometric with a Lustraloy cap, filled with Noodler's Blue.
I like black inks, but don't use them. Blue is the best way to distinguish originals from copies at the office.
On occasion, I'll fill up with Noodler's Legal Lapis, but I really prefer the shade of their regular Blue.
Now and then I'll carry a Sheaffer PFM or a Stipula Saturno crescent filler.

We take ball-point pens for granted but they have been around less than 100 years and they were not inexpensive and abundant until the late 50's.
Consider that, when your shiny "B" SS was made, people wrote with fountain pens.
I remember, as a wee lad, opening a container of ink and spilling it on a desk and I remember scribbling with cheap fountain pens.
Enough geezing.

I (almost) always carry my blue Fisher bullet pen and my Levenger "pen pocket briefcase" (http://www.levenger.com/pagetemplates/product/product.asp?params=category=11-76|level=2-3|pageid=5518) tucked in an inside jacket pocket. I've found this works well for me as my portable writing equipment. I also have a gold-colored Fisher that lives with my bag (http://www.acmemade.com/product/The-Courier,15,2.htm), so these end up being what I use when I'm out of the house. At home recently, it's been my cheapest pen that gets the most use, the green Pelikan calligraphy pen (http://www.jetpens.com/product_info.php/cPath/625_704/products_id/3566). I've been practicing my handwriting and it just looks cooler with an italic nib. The other pen that I've been leaning towards is the Sailor Sapporo (purchased from Dave_D), which has a finer nib than my few other nice pens and seems to feather less on the cheapo copy paper I have. I only have one bottle of ink, Noodler's blue-black, but am hoping to get more as soon as I can buy more toys for myself.
The title of "go-to" pen has to belong to the Fishers, though. The writing experience isn't the same as a good fountain pen, but the portability and reliability can't be beat, and I really like the solid metal feel.

While finding the link to include in this post, I discovered that Cross now offers a blue ink refill for the Tech3. Woot! It's the unofficial ink color of choice in my agency, so up until now, I haven't used the Tech3 all that much at work.

My lovely wife bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 2008 along with the fountain pen converter which I have yet to remove from its package. The pen is satisfyingly heavy and a very smooth writer. I couldn't resist and bought the matching business card case and the watch to complete the ensemble. Yeah, I'm a dork.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I use the black ink refills. I almost never use any other color except red and that only while I'm editing.

For on the go pens it's usually a Pilot V7 pen. But, right now I'm trying out the Varsity Fountain.
If I'm writing letters at home, it's usually some unnamed ink or my fisher.

In high school, I worked at a dry cleaners. When emptying out one of the machines, I found a pretty nice Cross pen. Normal policy was to return items found to customers, but there was no way of identifying who the customer was. I used the pen for close to 10 years, all through high school, college, and after graduating. Unfortunately, the mechanism/cog which extended the ink and held the pen together became worn. One day at work, the bottom half fell out and I lost it. :crying:
Now, I use Zebra, F-402 pens in black. Nice and heavy, and writes smooth. Plus, it only costs about 4 to 5 dollars!!

I have a pair of Fisher Space pens with chrome caps and red barrels with medium black ink that I acquired early in my LE career. The Fisher is a great go-to pen. They don't skip on the waxy printer paper that a credit card receipt is printed on and they also write upside down. My other pens are a Parker Jotter (?) with brushed stainless body and black medium ink and a Waterman ballpoint, deep blue body with gold accents and medium blue ink. I also have a Waterman fountain pen with a medium nib and load it with Waterman Florida Blue ink. I'm waiting on delivery of a Blue Diamond Parker 51 Aerometric. I read lots of good things about them on this site and on the Fountain Pen Network.
Today it has been my vintage 1930's Wahl Oxford with a great deal of wonderful flex. I have been practicing using this pen and the more I use it, the more I love it. I am using Private Reserve "Orange Crush" ink and it looks great.

A quail feather and pieces of ancient parchment.
No, seriously, Sharpie recently made a pen and I love them. It has lots of resistance, which I like because my cursive is really loosey-goosey. And people won't steal them as often. I like purple, but it only comes in a multipack. Apparently Sharpie is real nice about buying single colors in bulk, so I might do that later:

I carry around the Moleskine Volant notebooks. I have SO many black books in the archive I've been buying the color ones to make it easier to organize. Poetry in black, neon colors are jokes, and solids are observations and notes:

When this one runs out of paper, I'll probably upgrade to a colored version. And I think I'll get one with grids instead of ruled lines, to make my lists a little neater.
My usage is more mundane than yours. I use it mostly for recording groceries and daily to-do lists, writing down web-sites and other items I want to research. There's also a small pocket in the back where I can temporarily keep business cards and receipts that I collect.
I've always had a notebook or journal of some sort, but it took me a long time to find a really good one that would fit in my pocket. Although any little notebook would suffice, I don't know of anything besides Moleskine that has the same elegance and panache.

I have an heirloom Sheaffer Targa that I love. It is a bit scratched, but still in good writing condition. I do love the weight of it.
I used to have a wonderful Cross ballpoint, but I lost it this summer and still is sad about it. The best pen I've ever had.
For both of them, I prefer black ink. Blue for me is my school teachers, red is...well, red. Brown is okay, but I seldom find a good brown that does not fade. A good black ink is the best, that stays black.
Go to pens are both Parker 51s. I do not know the history about one of them but the other I purchased from a gentleman on eBay. In his own words he said:
"The man I bought the pen from wrote me that the pen was a good writer but he was getting old. Well, I am getting old myself and am selling most of my pens so my wife won't have to. I have enjoyed having this pen, and I hope that you enjoy it also."
I don't know why, but I instantly felt a special connection to this pen. It's like it's come preloaded with two generations worth of writing and I'm the lucking third to have it. The pen has definitely been worn down a little bit, but that's purely aesthetic as it writes like a champion.
I have Noodler's Heart of Darkness black in one Parker 51 and Noodler's Perrywinkle blue in the Parker 51 with all the history.
Usually a bold-nib Lamy Safari (fine-nib if I'm in a more precise mood) with Private Reserve Midnight Blues. I have around a dozen bottles of ink, though, almost all of which I use pretty regularly.

I've been alternating between a Sheaffer Prelude fine nib and a Pilot dropper-fill that came with my Noodler's Heart of Darkness.
The Noodler's is awesome in the Pilot, but didn't really agree with the nib on the Sheaffer. I nabbed a bottle of Waterman Green on Monday and that has become my new go-to in that pen :thumbup1:

I feel that my older pens prefer older inks, and don't do so well with modern fluids. I feed my Shaeffers on Shaeffer and my Parkers on Parker.

I love the bullets. Based on the handwriting thread from a while ago, I am re-teaching myself how to write with a Lamy, but the bullet is my go-to. I have green, blue, and burgundy refills in the wings, but I'm using up my black refills first.
My "stock" (what I keep around the house for "I need a pen" moments) pens are Pilot V5s and V7s. I may have to check out the Sharpies mentioned upthread.
I haven't been able to convince myself the moleskine notebooks are worth it, though. My go-tos are plain old steno pads and Rite in the Rain notebooks.

Hey, have any of you guys tried the Parker Gel ink refills yet? I just got one for the pen I keep in the car (can't keep a FP in a hot car) and they actually write really well. A lot nicer, darker line and with less pressure than a normal ballpoint. :001_smile

Fisher Bullet with black ink in my jeans pocket. Everyday pen is a Filcao 1918 confetti with either custom burgundy or dark green.

A series of pencils, pens, roller balls and fountain pens (most of them Cartier, Dupont, Parker, ACME).
Most used and preferred ones are the Faber-Castell 9000 2B pencil and the Cartier Diabolo ball pen, blue lacquer finish.
Currently on the lookout for a good fountain pen ink.

I work for SWA as an aircraft mechanic. My choice when it comes to pens is a Parker Stainless Jotter with a Fisher Space Pen Insert. I work flight line Maintenance in Kansas City MO. It get cold here in the winter and that Space Pen insert never skips a beat over grease, oils, water, sweat, nothing keeps it from writing. No second guessing when it's going to run out of ink. The first time it skips you are damn near out. I get the inserts off the bay at a reasonable price. Black in bold tip.
That's all I got to say about pens
