Anyone try one of these guys yet?
http://www.razorslord.com/Packages/L122.asp
I'm interested in the Lord brand & didn't see this one anywhere--even in the review. Anyone have any experience with it?

Yes i had one,
it's pretty much a tech clone.
It shaves pretty much like a tech also.
But the finish of the razor is very cheap.

I agree. I have one and would be willing to trade you for it, if you want....PM me if you're interested.

yep got one works pretty good for me being somewhat new(little over a month) to DE shaving. Finish looks like cheap aluminum not bad though I'm not sure what it would look like w/o the finish though if it ever washes off with age?

It just works, nothing special. But imagine if it were common for drugstores and groceries to have a few of these in their shaving sections along with the generic DE blades. Could persuade more people to try DE shaving, or at least make them aware that it's an option.

That can often be the case with inexpensive TTOs. The Lord Tech holds the blade very tightly, though.

Lord doesn't make any TTO's and what you bought is a cheap chinese razor that popped up in this forum several times. Check this thread (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=121405&highlight=lord) on B&B. My best advice to you is to check manufacturer's websites before you believe something to be true.
Sorry mate but what you bought can best be tossed away. It is sold under different brands and not worth buying.
To coughdrop: This razor is probably close to or the same as the LP1822 old style. Not bad for the money at all but the razor you want is the new LP1822 with a casted head close to the one on the Merkur classics. When you are in the US it is pricey to get since nobody carries it yet. The alternative is this Lord Smart (http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/lord-smart.html) with the same head but with a plastic handle. Not as nice but guaranteed $12 well spend!

Lord would not put their name on such a total piece of crap as that. They make some very good quality razors.
As for the L122 mentioned by the O.P. I have owned one. It's pretty much an exact clone of the late model 1970's Tech. It shaves very well, and is built fairly well too.
You can buy one here:
http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/lord-tech.html
You can also buy the "Lord Smart" (with the Merkur like head) from that vendor, and the Lord Smart is probably the better razor.
Reviews of the Lord Tech (with the Tech like head) can be found here:

Light, mild shaver that can be had for cheap. You can't go wrong with it, unless you have a really dense beard.

My guess is, with all kind of AD's going on that seem to come with B&B, a £10.00 lesson is not that bad! :001_smile
hey i got one off of ebay i like it where you from ?
I don't agree that the Lord L122 shaves like a Tech. I have it and I also have Techs from the early 50s and even late 70s. The L122 is more aggressive. It is even more aggressive than the Feather portable.

Blimey you guys are mixing up the model numbers with the packaging numbers.
Lord are a very good manufacturer of razors and blades sold under many brand names throughout the world, they are big. For many years they had a joint venture with Wilkinson Sword, which is where their technology and management expertise come from.
This is a bit like Gillette having a joint venture factory in St Petersberg, Russia, that makes 8 different brands of DE blades.
On their website Lord have two pages of DE razors, you can see them here: http://www.razorslord.com/Categories/SaftyRazors.asp
There are two all metal models. The L5 "Razor Metallic" This is a Tech clone with an aluminium handle (as many Techs had) however it does not shave like a Tech, it is much better. The L5 razor is sold in L122 packaging.
The second model is the "Premium" L6. This is another Tech razor but it has a completely different head. On this the guard bar is scalloped like on an Edwin Jagger or a Merkur. This is the model that gets great praise in the review section here. It comes in the L1822 packaging.
These are probably the best low cost razors you can buy. They are the equal or better than razors costing many times more.

Where can you find this premium L6?

Just make sure they don't bait and switch and send you the L5/L122 combo.

That's what I'm afraid of. That pic doesn't look like the premium.
Anyway, thanks for clearing up the confusion!

It says Premium on the box.
The L1822 box which matches with the Premium box on the Lord website.
The L6/L1822 box is blue with a rounded top.
The L5/L122 box is green with a square top.
I bought an L6 recently for travel and to try out for variety. It works fine and gives comfortable shaves. It's maybe a little on the mild side for me, but that might be a good thing for shaving under the adverse conditions sometimes encountered when travelling. Lightweight aluminum handle, also not usually considered a desirable point, but desirable for travel.
I'm really happy I bought it. My normal everyday razor (the only other one currently) is a Parker 91R. I had been thinking that I would prefer a slightly less aggressive razor, and the Lord confirms this. So now I know that my ideal razor would be something in between the two for aggressiveness. (Along with being esthetically pleasing and having a perfect finish. My Parker could be a little better on finish, but functionally it's fine.)
This is a bit like Gillette having a joint venture factory in St Petersberg, Russia, that makes 8 different brands of DE blades.
That factory in St Petersburg has been for a long time a Gillette [now P&G] property. Gillette had more than 50% share in the factory in the 90s, bur later the Russians didn't have enough funds to buy stainless steel strips and Gillette bought the plant almost for nothing.

This was the first DE I bought and it got me started down the road to a RAD. Shaves pretty well, I got mine off amazon for 8 bucks.

I bought one of these on Amazon a month a go for a grand adventure and to satisfy my growing RAD. Total priced shipped was $8.50. This is my 6th DE razor now.
I like the shave from it better than my Tech razor. It is more aggressive than the Tech which I like. It's lighter than the Tech though.
I have probably used it 10 times or so up till now. It's on the rack and I'll continue to use it when the mood hits.
However I prefer my Merkur to either of those razors. That's just personal preference. I like my Merkur better than all of my razors, including my Edwin Jagger. The Edwin Jagger looks the best though.
If you want one go for it. It's only $8.50.

I tried the 1822 (aluminum hand) with the newer Merk-type headon a recent trip. It's not as aggressive as the Merk head, but again, this isn't a bad thing when travelling. I got nice DFS shaves with it using the Personna Double Edge blades that are also used for store brands. Not bad at all.

You are partly right. The Dutch vendor has the new LP1822 with the casted head; a truly great shaver.
Your US URL is the old LP1822, now sold as the L5/L122. It used to be their premium razor so it is called that on the package. Owning both I can asure you the package of the old and new LP1822 are the same but AFAIK the only way to get the new casted head in the states is to get the Lord Smart from Shoebox. The handle is plastic that way but you will get the great shaver at least. Not that the old one is bad but the new one is much, much better.
