So in my younger days I had an obsession with nice pens and diaries etc......

Trouble is I'd buy them and lose them , so in recent times I've been using cheapo, vendor freebie type items and cheapo stationary diaries and notebooks.

So after frequenting here just this week I've put in orders for.

I'd always wanted a Fisher but never got round to buying one ( release the inner nerd ) . Now I've got two on their way.

I found myself eyeing off locally made pens ( including the rhodium ones that one of the locals makes down here ) at the local market and even wifey noticed....

Fountain pen, Gel or Ball point ??? Might have to buy all three :001_tt2:

You guys are just a bunch of enablers.....!!!!!! :001_tt2:

Hopefully I've "matured" enough to keep track of my new things :001_tt2:

ARGHHHHHHH

I know the feeling. I "accidentally" bought another P51 last night, I bought another colour of ink just then and I bought three notebooks last week. This new AD is getting out of hand.

If you're looking for Moleskine ( which appears to be popular amongst the B&Bers ), with free International shipping Book Depository seems to be the best priced.

Cool, thanks. Actually my local art store has some nice little notebooks on special at the moment and I stocked up on a few of those. Similar quality to the equivalent moleskin. Just a handy size for carrying around and scribbling in.They are currently only about $7 each.

Allow me to echo your "Dammit B&B for making me spend more money on cool stuff!"

Here's a taste of what's shown up here in the past week or so:

I guess I've caught the bug, too. Now if only my penmanship wasn't so crappy...:rolleyes5

My favorite Fisher pen is the black rubber model:
http://www.spacepen.com/images/products/detail/ZG_new500.2.jpg

But I usually just buy the space pen refills and put them in my other ball-point pens ;)

You can go crazy with pens. I picked up 2 from Rudy Vey recently, one for me and one for my wife. I also have a few Waterford (the crystal people) rollerballs that feel like they were made for my hand. And a nice Laco. All of these were very reasonably priced, IMO.

Have fun with the new obsession! :001_tongu

Once you start down the fountain pen road it can it can be tough to get off! I find myself "just browsing" different inks on different sites.

About a year ago, I picked up a Caran d'Ache Ivanhoe BP and Tony Perotti Padfolio. It's a shame I don't use it more often, but the chain mail design on the Ivanhoe is simply gorgeous! :001_tt1:

Fair warning: stay away from pen shows! I went to the one in LA two weeks ago. Talk about enablers and the temptation of thousands of pens and accessories.

As it happens every year, I spent more than I intended to, but it was a good time.

I can believe it!

Knife shows are the same way.

What is that first pen pictured in the thread, it's awesome looking.

I'm a big letter writer, its so relaxing and much more useful investment of my time than video games or reality TV.

I've been using a pretty standard fountain pen, one I picked up at office depot. But, lately, I've been using a standard quill and ink! it takes some serious practice.

18 Fountain pens and a horde of notebooks later, I'm still looking for more pens and notebooks that will take FP ink. Oh, not to mention bottles of ink especially vintage Parker Quink Solv-x Blue-Black inks. Though not an AD begun by B&B, you fellers definitely perpetuated it  :001_tt2:

Fountain pens are just about as bad as custom straights. Does anyone really need 20 bottles of various inks? No...but I do :(

Uh oh....NBAD? PAD? Luckily, I went through that bug before I discovered wetshaving. The Moleskine is my go-to for recording notes from office meetings, and consistently draws compliments from coworkers. As for the pen pairing, I only use the Pilot G2 Limited. Buy the barrel for 10 bucks or so, then pair it with the point of your choosing. The G2 ink not only writes fantatic in the Moleskine, but I can use a 0.38mm cartridge- years of engineering diagrams and math made my handwriting EXTREMELY small.

No worse... didn't the FPAD hit you harder Isaac?

It really did, but i justified it in that I actually write a great deal more than I am able to shave. I do have the uncanny ability to love the most expensive items of any hobby I partake. Curse you Montbland!!

Speaking of Montblanc, I was drooling over the Starwalker with the Montblanc star suspended in a clear resin before I settled on the Caran d'Ache. I have a Meisterstuck LeGrand in black resin, but their laquered pens are simply stunning.

Though, the Swiss won me over in the end. :001_smile

Don't know much about pens, but I do know a little about Italian paper + journals . . . a few years ago I was given this one by Valentina of Florence, and it's just gorgeous. You can find similar journals from a Massachusetts vendor here: http://www.jennibick.com/leather-journals.html
