So, what do you like to smoke?

I'm not into aromatics at all going with Va's & Va/Per, Balkans and lots of latakia. My two current go to all day tobaccos are Mac Baren's HH Vintage Syrian and Solani's 769 Luxury English Mixture.

I'm a non-smoker, and normally I find tobacco smoke most offensive, and the smell coming off a smoker repugnant.

But really, I'm talking about cigarettes. Cigars I don't mind too much.

But pipe tobacco I don't mind at all, if someone's smoking it (as long as it's not too congfined a space. The smell is actually pleasant. So please, you pipe smokers, continue this hobby ... don't go for cigs. (I'd suggest that you quit tobacco altogether, but I know that's just a pipe dream.:biggrin1:)

If you feel like smoking, go right ahead and smoke ... a pipe!

Hee hee. When I light up a big bowl of Red Rapparee next to you we'll see if you feel the same way.

Ah, so THAT'S why New York smells so funny!

I know not this Red Rapparee of which you speak ... but if it's strong, pungent and characterfull as I suspect, I'll inch away in admiration.

I'm not a pipe smoker in the traditional sense. Every now and again (read: once a year) a few of my buddies and I will go to a hookah lounge in the area. It's nice stuff, especially the lemon. The smoke is cool and smooth and incredibly relaxing. The whole place smells like incense. Occasionally they play some downtempo electronica and you can just veg out for hours...

I'm an off and on pipe smoker. My dream rig, that I once possessed, was a Cavicchi 1C which was only filled with Astley's 109. Unfortunately, student teaching makes you poor, so the Cavicchi went on ebay (thanks to appreciation, I was able to make back all of my money). I still smoke my Astley's when I smoke, but now it's on a no-name $20 deal (that actually does fairly well, but not as good as my Cavicchi).

I only time I cleared a room was when I lit up a nice bowl of Balkan Sobranie. Peasants. Now it's just an occasional hobby. Until I retire that is.

Do you perhaps mean the Solani blend 779? I really am liking that blend over the others that I have.

what kind of advice would you guys give to someone who's interested in getting their first pipe and smoking a little tobacco??

i did it once my freshman year in college (yes, it was just tobacco) and remember it being really nice, but havn't touched it since then.

what's a good 'starter' pipe and tobacco? what's the correct process/procedure for smoking??
