I thought this would be a cool way to soften the beard :biggrin1:

I suppose you'd have to try it out. Though, I don't know if I would want to put my face in one of those things. I stick to a hot shower for my preshave.

I have one of those (different brand, same basic design). I got it to help with my sinuses; I never thought of trying it as a beard softener prior to a shave. I can think of a couple reasons why it wouldn't work so well in that capacity. One, the face shield goes from just under the chin to the top of the forehead, meaning basically all of one's neck won't get any steam at all. Two, it's pretty time consuming. You'd just be sitting (or standing) there with your face in this thing, not able to do anything else. Talk about adding an extra step to your routine. Maybe one of these weekends I'll break it out and give it a try, just to see how it works. But no way I'm doing this on a weekday morning before heading out the door.

Definitely keep me posted if you try it as I'd be interested in the results.
