View Full Version : Custom Tiny Scales Anyone?

I've acquired a 7-day set with nice little blades, but all were rusty. Seems it was meant for travelling ~19th century; 130mm blades with a piddly 60mm cutting area. I'm glad to spend some money and hang on to it for awhile as a finished, ready to shave little box.

The original scales were nothing special, and I assumed when I received it that I'd be exchanging them anyways. I believe all the little blades can be made gorgeous, and will take my time to sand them. It'll takes months to grind off rust and properly finish it, given my qty of disposable time.

I'm not up for making my own scales from wood; the wife hated the woodworking hobby eating up gobs of space as New Yorkers, and I don't blame her when you're shopping for toasters based on the smallest counter footprint. Those tools are long gone from my life, not to return for now.

If anyone can point me towards a source for tiny scales I'd appreciate it.

How small? The slots of the case allow only 3mm of space on the ends with the fixed pin, and the widest outer width of razor in scale's only allowed ~6mm. 130mm overall length scale; I'd be quite glad to snail mail a craftsman 1 of the modest scales which survived the un-pinning for a basis of creation.

thanks!

Not sure about wood, but John C has shown off some really cool custom scales in the past few months. Maybe they'll strike a chord with you:
