Love 'em.

Off to get one (or four) now. Lemon filled, cake (with sprinkles and with peanuts, chocolate icing, and maybe one choc and one regular cake)), and maybe an apple fritter. Oh, and a big...BIG coffee...

You guys want anything?

Here's a event for the OP. Here in Raleigh this week end is a fund raiser. It's a charity run from NC State University to a downtown Raleigh Crispy Cream and back. The twist is that while at Crispy Cream you have to down a dozen donuts before you can return to the starting point. The event gets bigger each year and should take in a pretty nice haul for charity if the nasty weather expected this weekend doesn't get too bad. As for me, I'll pass on the dozen and am more of a Dunkin' fan anyway.

Thanks MoJoe! I could easily eat a dozen KK donuts, but they are mostly filled with air and cocaine, so...

That would be Krispy Kreme, and if they're HOT, I could melt a dozen down my throat without even thinking about it!

If I want cake, I go to a bakery,
But, if I want donuts, I go to Krispy Kreme!

No lemon for me. When I was 8 or 9, I ate 4 or 5 lemon-filled donuts and and a few hours later, puked 'em all back up. For 15 -20 years, just smelling anything lemon scented brought back memories.

So for me, a couple old-fashioned and if they have it, a cherry fritter.

No on the cherry fritter....ok, then an eclair. :thumbup1:

Ok, this is just weird...I was in the middle of my third donut (a cake with coconut), and popped over to my gaming clan site for a sec. There was only one new post since yesterday, and it was this:

(warning: no video, but slightly NSFW language. Noting too bad though)

Just listen to the whole song, but it starts off about donuts. Big lol.

Update: I should have listened to Gruder, and skipped the lemon filled. Normally I love...er, lurve them, but this one, on top of three other donuts and a cold cup of coffee has me in knots. I need to go have a lie down on the couch and curl up with some Netflix streaming queue. Unemployment is killing me in more ways than one, lol...

There is a family owned coffee shop in Arlington, MA that makes their own donuts. They are so good I am willing to say they are the best in the world.:w00t:

If your ever in the Boston area send me an email for directions.

You'll thank me for it.

Luvmysuper, looks like you had a post that you deleted, where you asked what I would be doing if I wasn't unemployed? That's fine to ask, I wasn't ignoring it, I just hadn't gotten to the response yet, because for me right now, that's the million dollar question. Previously (as in up to December), I was working for Peet's Coffee & Tea. I had been with them almost ten years, and I was a network/systems admin. Prior to that position I was a retail systems engineer, and prior to THAT I was on the support desk. I started in the stores as a bean counter grunt (as in selling beans, not counting them), worked my way up through retail management, and moved into the IT realm with little to no experience. Almost all of that came on the job. Thing is, I ended up on a career track that I never really wanted...I just wanted more pay. IT is fine, and that's probably where I'll go next, because that's where my skills are, but my heart isn't really in it. I'd like to find something that is also a passion and something I can feel good about doing...in jobs past I've been a car salesman, a line cook, a lead sautee cook, I worked in a strip club (as a cook, lol), I've worked in gas stations on graveyard shifts, I've worked gorcery, etc., but aside from the cookin all of them were stopgaps. My wife works for the university of California (Berkeley), and her job is tough but extremely rewarding...because of what she does, research gets done, projects get funded, science and technology makes the world a better (or better understood) place, and she loves it. Me, I have my passions, but the things I love are so far afield from my actual life experience that it's difficult to start in those fields at nearly 40 years old. I don't know what's next actually...I may take some classes, I may re-evaluate everything, I just don't know. Ya hiring? I'm up for a challenge and something new, lol...

Funny, I always wanted to open a book store/cafe/animal adoption place, where you could get a latte, read some Oscar Wilde, and play with puppies and kittens...

Seriously...

In the Selfridges store in Birmingham (UK not alabama) they do a boxed dozen of specials for about £9 - but they always say to you at the till 'for another £2 - you can have a dozen classics too! That is not the kind of encouragement I need!

Being a big San Jose Sharks fan from day one, I soundly endorse this idea! As long as it is by me, that is... Every time we watch a Sharks game against a Canadian team, you see the Tim Horton's ads along the boards, and I always think of donuts. Never been to one though...maybe next time we visit the inlaws in Seattle, we can take the ferry up to Vancouver for a donut pilgrimage.

Yep, we get fleeced good and proper for stuff like that, although we can pick donuts in the supermarkets at 4 for £1 - they just don't have that warm, moist lardy goodness of KK or DD. God, i so fancy a 'Boston Cream' right now!

Yum, Tim Horton's. Them's good donuts!

That having been said, I stopped at a road side coffee place in a microscopic town out in the boonies a couple of summers ago and ordered coffee and a maple bar. The lady stuck the bar in the microwave for about 15 seconds, then spatulaed the maple frosting about 1/2 inch thick all over the top. Wowsers!

That had to be a cold run this year. And, I, too, prefer Dunkin.

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of Krispy Kreme and I shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed I stuck that Lilac Vegetal beneath my head

Got up next mornin' and I grabbed that Veg ate a Krispy Kreme donut and away I run
Made a good run but I run too slow they overtook me down in Juarez Mexico
