Hello,

I would like to say anything about buying or selling of shaving articles which to be for sale in this forum...
It's a little bit difficult especially for me, to buy an article, which I'm interested in, cause the shipping costs are too expensive, isn't it so???

And that is a thing, that makes me very sad, cause I would try few things,really...

Wish you a very nice day and evening, with greetings from here.

Regards

Thomas

Huh? I don't fully understand what you are saying - may be a language barrier (Captain Ron to the rescue?) Shipping to foreign countries isn't that expensive (provided the items is not large/heavy). It is like $8-9 USD to ship global priority mail, versus $4 to ship priority in the U.S. - I guess I am just not sure what you are getting at.

If there is any way I can help - or figure out some prices - leeeeme know!

Thomas,

It can be the same way for us here in the US. Someone might put a tub of cream up for sale for a decent price, but by the time shipping is factored in, the price is close to what a new one costs (sans shipping). I suggest you find a good purveyor of products and order enough from them that the shipping cost becomes a minor part of the cost of the entire order. That's what most of us do here.

The same strategy can be done with sales here on this forum. Quite often, members here clean out their bathroom cabinets and sell quite a few items at once. By buying several items, you can average the cost of shipping out over all of the items and end up saving quite a bit of money in the long run. Just be patient and check the selling forum often. The good deals never last long!

Thomas,
I recently began shipping my shaving items Internationally. A large Global Priority envelope up to four pounds is $9.50 USD. That 4 pounds must fit into the envelope per shipping regulations. This envelope is 12" X 9 1/2" so it doesn't hold too much.

As an example; I had an order recently that included two filled wood bowls and it shipped to the United Kingdom. The bowls, along with a smaller item (which I don't recall right now) was shipped 'Global Priority' in a small size box. It shipped in a box because it wouldn't fit into the envelope. My cost to ship this box was $19.00 USD. I lost about $13.00 on the shipment.

It is very difficult to calculate shipping accurately and fairly while using a 'Shopping Cart'. Paypal, which I use, is based on either a percentage of the total purchase price or a flat fee per the purchase price. Either method is a good balance EXCEPT neither take into account 'Weight'. I could ship a box of no-weight bubble wrap to the UK at a higher cost than a little box of heavy items.

Before I started shipping Internationally, I did a lot of research. I 'pseudo-purchased' from differnt vendors using an out-of-the-USA address to find costs. That is to say I completed check-out up to the final click of the mouse which would incur a charge. I also checked eBay shippers. It appeared to me that $12.00 to $20.00 was the standard charge to ship Internationally and that was for a lightweight wrist-watch.

If I find a big difference in what PayPal automatically calculated for my shipping cost, I refund a few dollars in fairness to my customers. Sometimes I take a loss of up to $3.00 average. I've never gone back to my customer and asked for more to cover the shipping cost.

Please also remember that shippers, including myself also have the cost of padded envelopes, bubble wrap, boxes and packing 'popcorn'. Possibly round trips to the Post Office more than once per day and some time. Incidentals like printer paper, printer ink and strapping tape are all costs.

I like to believe that the rest of shippers also treat their customers as they would like to be treated and that is with fairness. Personally, I sell shave soaps and related products not shipping.

I hope this helps

@Sue:I think the problem is, a little bit more, for private sellers than for business people, isn't it so???
