See above thread for story (If you don't already know)

I wanted to update everyone with the status of my trade with the banned user. I did indeed receive the Single Ring that was promised in exchange for my Aristocrat (he has received this as well). I first want to thank all of those who PM’ed me gracious offers of free Single Rings in the event that I did not receive mine. It’s one of the reasons why I haven’t lost my trust in B&B.

I know some of you may be thinking that I “cried wolf” by posting my issue before it had a chance of being resolved, but I posit these justifications in doing so:

1. In all accounts, this looked like a scam to me from day one. The suggestion from the user to not exchange money via Paypal (which doesn’t protect me via Paypal, but leaves a financial record if taken to the authorities), the forwarded email responses from two separate people, and the banning of his account on the board were all gigantic red flags in my opinion. The only reason I went forward with the trade was that my desire to acquire a single ring, and his fantastic pictures blinded me from what my brain was thinking.

2. I knew that if I posted the above thread (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=130389) that he would probably see it; I wanted to see what his response was. By getting that response from him, I was better able to assess the situation I was in. As a result of the emails between the two of us, I actually rescinded the return order from the Post Office and had my Aristocrat delivered to the address.

3. I needed to protect my interests. I know it’s just a razor and life would go on, but no one likes to lose money, especially by way of scam.

I honestly have no hard feelings toward the trader, and will communicate with him in the future.

Thanks to B&B and all the great gentleman that make this a fantastic website!

Good to hear you got your Razor Andrew.

Your post was a good wake up call for the buyer/trader to beware.

I'm glad things worked out.

+1, but I don't blame you for initially reacting the way you did.

I followed the previous thread with interest and I'm pleased it all ended well.
If nothing else, the whole episode should serve as a reminder to take proper care when dealing over the internet.
As a new member who intends to buy razors here at B&B in the future, I can safely say that the vibe I get from this community and the members who visit and trade here is nothing but positive.

Glad it all worked out drewmac.

You weren't crying wolf-you were alerting the membership to a shady player. More than likely, your post 'helped' him to do the right thing.

I'm happy for you that everything worked out in the end.

I'm glad that the guy followed through with his end of the bargain, and if it is who I think it is, he was originally banned for B/S/T infringements, but not outright theft or bad-faith trades, just that he was in effect running a business gouging people for high sales amounts (although to be fair they were always awesome items...just priced at the very top end of the spectrum). It was what gave rise to Austin's "Profiting on the B/S/T" sticky. He's come and gone several times, lol.

+1. I've spoken with Sebastian in depth before--he's always seemed knowledgeable and friendly to me--but I've known more than one person to express disappointment in their transactions with him or buyers remorse after buying his items. Like you said, they were usually stellar pieces, but at the very top rung of the price ladder... perhaps higher. I've only known him under one name, and probably wouldn't know if I dealt with him now unless he revealed himself. Glad OP reached a solution.

I'm glad to hear it worked out.

But I must say, I'm curious what the postmark date on the package he shipped you was.

The best ending possible for you !!!! I also recently had an "experience" similiar to Andrew's however I did not follow through with the transaction.
I have had only "excellent" relations with everyone I have done business here and I have great confidence in all my "mates" here !!!

Andrew, I'll echo the sentiments of others and say that I don't believe you "cried wolf' so to speak. Those red flags you described would have been red flags to anyone, and I think you performed a service by letting us all know what was going on. Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated.

Let me be very clear on behalf of the mod team. The vendor in question is not welcome here, due to multiple violations of B&B terms of usage.

Re-registering with different account names, representing oneself as different persons to different buyers, failing to deliver items until pressured, and otherwise skirting the clear rules established in the name of protecting the members of this free online community is a clearly fraudulent act, and will not be tolerated. This vendor has turned dishonesty into a game. For shame.

Our thanks to the growing number of members who have assisted us in identifying this person and his aliases here. Should you have reason to believe Sebastian is back at B&B, please contact a mod.

drewmac, we're glad you got your razor. It's a pity that you had to work so hard and worry so much in order to receive it. Our b/s/t shouldn't work that way.
