View Full Version : Truefitt & Hill Tubs or Tubes?

I am going to pick up TH West Indian Limes, Trafalgar, and 1805 locally with plans to sell them here if the scent/lather doesn't agree with me. I know that tubs cost more, but that they are a better cost per volume. Would the resale value be higher for a tub compared to a tube?

As someone who uses the T&H creams you listed I would be more inclined to buy slightly use tubs, which I have in the pass. Even when I am buying something new I tend to purchase the tub size. Just my opinion.

And I'm on the opposite end, I'd be more inclined to buy slightly used tubes since I have yet to try T&H products and am after smaller sizes until I learn what I like.
I'd wager you'll find people on both sides of the fence; go with whatever feels best for you.

They are so amazing that if you don't like them they will sell quickly.

IMHO If I was going to buy a used cream, I'd prefer to get a tube.
Buy the sampler and try them all out in small quantities:

Definitely check out the samples before blowing $90 on shaving cream you're not even sure you will like.

it does sound like tubs are going to be a better value.
I have also considered the samples which end to be about 18 bucks with shipping last time i checked. I figure that if i only like one tub and end up selling the other two for 5$ loss then i have lost less than i would have on the samples and i have a huge tub of cream that i really like.

I purchased sample packs at On The Fly for 9.00 with free shipping. They shipped quick and came in a little blue felt bag. You may give them a try...

+1 Great idea to try the sampler first! Think of the additional shipping costs that you will incur receiving and selling any tubs that you do not like. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your choice!

I used to think that people who bought tubes were idiots, untill I just bought a tube of Ultimate Comfort. Now I can see the value of them, they take up less space and are much cleaner to use. Just squeeze a dab on brush and you're good to go.

sampler from them will be purchased tomorrow. I had tried directly from TH before and they wanted to charge me a crazy shipping. I have never heard of these guys before.
Thanks a billion Stain!

so i went to purchase them today, and there was no add to cart button because they were out of stock. I guess the early bird gets the worm.

on the fly is still out of the TH sample pack. :crying: Does anyone else know where to get one without having to pay as much for shipping as for the sample pack?

I'd buy a used tube over a tub - purely for the sanitary OCD freak in me that would prefer that someones germ-riddled brush hasn't been dunked in the soap over and over again.

+1.
If you're going to sell the ones you don't really like, you'll probably have more success with the tubes. Just seems more sanitary.

The Shave Den also has samplers available, although they are a bit more expensive because the samples are packaged in plastic jars.
West Indian Limes is better purchased as a tube based on my experience. My sample of it dried out after a month, whereas other creams were still moist.

That assumes the seller actually dunks their brush in the tub. I never do that, except with Castle Forbes. But yeah, if the person has been dunking their brush in the cream, that could be pretty nasty.

tubs = cheaper
if you like T/H you can go to their US site and get 20% off with code BB10

Thanks, its good to know about the code. I am still looking to get the sample pack without having to pay 8 dollars shipping, but on the fly has had it listed as unavailable for about a week. Does anyone else know of a vendor who sells these with reasonable shipping?

Considering how many people are willing to purchase used brushes and pucks of soap, I'd say re-selling a tub wouldn't be too much of a problem.
FWIW I would also be more inclined to buy a used tube rather than a tub.

FYI ...T&H sample-paks pricing includes shipping cost. so, $9.00 includes samples of creams + balms + shipping (www.truefittandhill.com). For some odd reason, verbiage on the website indicating shipping is included is missing.

I am pretty sure that the Truefitt and hill website will charge me shipping, i have not actually checked out yet but i get so far as entering all of my information, and to the summary page and something like 8 dollars shipping is included. Another user had linked to on the fly that has free shipping but in the one day that i waited they sold out. :(

You think that's insane, they want to charge $24 to ship to Canada from the States basic USPS. Trumper's shipped free from the UK.
