I have just gotten a bin full of new blades, but I can't tell what they are. There is no brand name on the pack. They claim to be Platinum Chrome blades, and the patent number (for the pack?) is 3,502,203. Other than that, there is no information that helps to identify them. so... what do I have, and will they be any good?
I'm just starting out, so I'm glad to have them, but I don't want to poison my opinion if these are just lousy blades.

Those might be Personnas made in USA (aka "Walmart Personnas"). I have a dispenser with exactly that Pat. number.
I thought they were OK at first, have tried them since and did not appreciate them that much. I do much prefer the Made in Israel Personnas (aka "blank Personnas" or "Tesco Blades").
EDIT: here's a link to the product.

This is a supermarket own brand. They have since discontinued these and started carrying the "Made in Israel" ones, but haven't updated the online store yet :).

Woah! These are discontinued? these are the only blades I have found in a store near me, I should go get some more... they work fine for me. The blades have made in usa printed on them, and are sold under a lot of different brand names, which is why there is no brand on the dispenser or blades. I got mine from Walgreens, and they where in a Walgreens package, not that "platina" package... We even have a review of these blades on this forum here! I think he is saying that the individual store he shops at is now selling a different style of DE blade under their house name.
The Wal-Mart Personna's/ US Personna's are certainly not being discontinued by Personna. That would be a pretty silly move on the part of Personna.

That package is right, but my blades are not stainless they are Platinum Chrome. I've got nine of those dispensers, and another 14 Schick packs. I would put in a picture of mine, although we've already seen better photography!

I would put in a picture of mine, although we've already seen better photography!ASR made a number of those blades in that particular packaging, either sold under the Personna label or labeled as Walmart, Kmart, and a few other chain stores. Most of the platinum chromes shave pretty well (depending on when they were made); I have some similar to what you describe and they shave quite nicely--In fact my favorite blade is one that ASR made for a certain chain store. I say give them a try. My only question is, how old does the packaging appear to be? I take it these are not still in the blister pack.
The Schicks are easier to identify, as you either have Plus Platinum, Super Stainless, or Krona Krome. All nice blades, and worth shaving with.

That is correct. They stopped selling these under their own brand, and have since moved on to the Made in Israel ones.
